Warthur
A doomy, gloomy gaze into the titular Abyss, on this latest release Chelsea Wolfe blends industrial and ethereal influences together into a mixture that contemplates dark and ugly things but which teases out a great inner beauty within them. A top-tier entry into her discography which ranks amongst her best albums and a strong case for Wolfe as the premier standard bearer for 21st century gothy darkwave magic. Veering even closer to doom metal territory than she did on Pain Is Beauty - and, indeed, on parts of songs like the apocalyptic Iron Moon, crossing over into it - this album finds her getting deeper into the louder, more discordant side of her sound.
