KILL APPEAL picture
Kill Appeal formed in 2007, with Marcus Fraser originally on drums, Odin Donohoe on lead vocals and guitar, Blake Cateris on bass and Lindsay Allan on Guitar. Influenced by the best hard rock bands of the 70s and 80s, the band began to play various shows and band comps, amazing people with their talent at such a young age. After about a year, Kill Appeal started to get somewhat of a local following, performing at local pubs, record stores and RSL Clubs. Eventually, they decided to find a frontman, as to let Odin focus on his guitar playing. After two short-lived singers, Jameel Majam & Matthew Rochford, and a brief name change to "ROUSER", the band split up due to musical differences but are now back with a new line-up and new songs, ready to play their very own brand of hard rock to music fans throughout Sydney!

Kill Appeal is a young Australian hard rock quartet, ready to take on the world by bringing out their prowling, hungry spirit that's heavily influenced by 70-80s heavy metal. This is not a new news, since that decade's revival that's started several years ago, many bands have chosen this path and in order to survive, you have to have something significant at your disposal to avoid being shuffled out in the saturating scene.

Based on four tracks in "Visitation", their glowing element is on Odin Donohoe's guitar licks and the fantastic solos. When the time allowed him to perform in each song, he cracks every note perfectly and the skill he showed deserved a big applause. On "Call Me Mental", for example, the strong NWoBHM vibe with a pluck of Bay thrash on the rhythm was swept nicely with his incinerating solos. Marcus Fraser, whom started originally behind the drumkit, has the unique thrashy vocal, like the growly Dave Mustaine at some point, especially when it's drowned in deep echo.

"Diamond Phyton" is definitely the best track. I like the fast-paced aggressive tempo with GNR's snakedance riffing style. "Out of This World" has a strong groove, but not as good as the first two, and too bad "I want You Dead" is a filler material. Young at age doesn't mean they're green and shallow. Based on what they did here, I can see a bright future ahead and they have all the time they need in the world to evolve and develop. If "Visitation" is already this good, I'm expecting an even better full length debut comin' up next.
