UMUR "Cabin of Horrors" is the debut full-length studio album by Dutch, Schoonhoven based death metal act Bodily Dismemberment. The album was independently release in July 2016. Bodily Dismemberment was formed in 2011. The band is a two-piece consisting of Alco (Plucker of strings made of Deadite Guts, Bringer of Growls, Green Vomits and Grunts), Nicolas (Boomsticks and Infernal Poundings on doors, Walls and Floors). "Cabin of Horrors" features a guest vocal performance Kam Lee (Massacre, The Grotesquery, Bone Gnawer...) on "Within the Woods".

Stylistically the music on "Cabin of Horrors" is old school death metal with gore/horror lyrics, which song titles like "Morbid Lust", "Possess the Living, Raise the Dead", and "Devourer of Souls" are a testament to. Actually all the material on the 11 track, 54:44 minutes long album form a concept, telling the story from the legendary Sam Raimi horror/gore movie "The Evil Dead (1981)". Bodily Dismemberment even refers to "Cabin of Horrors" as "the tape found in the cellar", which should ring a bell to those who have watched the movie.

The material on "Cabin of Horrors" is generally well written and authentic sounding old school death metal with influences from both doom and raw 80s thrash metal. The sound production is also suitingly raw and organic, which is a perfect match to the music. The two guys in the band nail the retro death metal sound well, and they are well playing too, so all in all "Cabin of Horrors" is a good quality release in the genre. I wouldn´t call it anything out of the ordinary, but it´s certainly an enjoyable listen and a 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
