The Angry Scotsman
This album has a really cool cover.

For me, that is where anything good about it ends. I will be the first to admit I am not a fan of "traditional" black metal, it just isn't my cup of tea. I would not have bought this album if I knew what it really was, (it was in the generic "U" section of my record store).

This is your standard black metal record. A distant guitar noise, unrelenting blast beats, horrifying vocals (even for black metal standards!) and extremely low fi production. It sounds like this album was recorded in an abandoned factory in DeKalb. The vocals are intriguing to say the least. I would describe them if I could. All it sounds like is a torturous noise buried in the wall of music. Quite buried, sometimes you can barely make them out as a distinct sound.

Actually, in terms of conveying power and atmosphere they are quite good as horrifying is the only good way to describe them. The songs are not too long, (thank god!) for black metal which tend to drag on for painful lengths. The music also does seem to change occasionally.

It takes a truly metal hardened ear to make out anything in this piece of noise. These VERY small points are the only thing keeping this album from getting a half star.

Black Metal fans may enjoy this extremely rare CD, and that's about it.
