Bluesy hard rock with a certain Hendrix influence, Vagabonds of the Western World is an album which is entertaining in its own right but is a little bit overshadowed by the glorious Whiskey In the Jar single which preceded it, and certainly nothing on here quite matches the glory of that song - though the generally slower, more meditative songs on here are interesting enough in their own right, and at their best (Little Girl In Bloom, etc.) are really quite good. Better times were coming, but things were already pretty good - and you've got to dig that lovely comic book style cover art, right?
