Byron Nemeth showers you with presents...

Genre: melodic metal

Sacred Heart was a Nemeth-led underground band of the old school, and, even though they may have achieve some cult success, they only released a single demo: "The Vision" from 1989, which was reissued last year in a quite enhanced version.

In addition to the original release, this version also includes 'Time After Time' from the "Heavy Artillery"-sampler and an unreleased track in the form of "Take Hold". But the gift shower does not stop here, as this release also contains five tracks from an unreleased 2010-EP by Byron Nemeth Group. This effectively makes this enhanced version of "The Vision" a compilation album of sorts.

The opening track 'We'll Hold On Till Tomorrow' is a melodic affair which is a bit thin and fails to rock my world. However, 'New Order' and 'The Vision' more than compensate for this with their use of galloping guitars and twin leads galore. 'Time After Time' like 'We'll Hold On Till Tomorrow' lacks energy and is on the more commercial side, but still more of an artistic success. 'Take Hold' was a previously unreleased track, and, well, I totally understand why. It's kind of cheesy, but at least it's great fun.

The five Byron Nemeth Group tracks are a very different animal. With dominant keyboards and even some power metal-elements, these tracks are kind of quasi-progressive and might be just up your alley if you like Queensrÿche and the like.

A release full of 80s rarities plus five quasi-progressive more recent tracks, "The Vision" should appeal to collectors, seekers of nostalgia, and genuine fans of melodic metal everywhere.
