Murder Construct is the self-titled EP debut release by US grindcore/ death metal act Murder Construct. The EP was released in November 2010 by Relapse Records. Murder Construct is a project created by members ( and ex-members) of acts such as Cattle Decapitation, Exhumed, Watch Me Burn, Phobia, Intronaut and Bad Acid trip.
The 17:36 minute long EP contains seven tracks of blasting fast-paced grindcore with mid-paced death metal sections thrown in. I´m mostly reminded of Brutal Truth ( without the high pitched screaming vocals), but also acts like Napalm Death and Coldworker come to mind. The music is powerful, aggressive and raw. The production is very professional and rather clean for a grindcore release. The sound kind of reminds me of the production on Need to Control (1994) by Brutal Truth and that´s never a bad thing in my book.
So while Murder Construct isn´t by any means going to revolutionize the grindcore scene ( if you ask me), it´s a very good release that deserves a 3.5 - 4 star rating. I know I found myself banging like a madman and really enjoying the EP.
