UMUR "When in Sodom" is an EP release by Swedish death metal act Entombed. The EP was released through Threeman Recordings in June 2006. It´s the last release by the band to feature drummer Peter Stjärnvind. Bassist Nico Elgstrand handles the production duties.

The 23:47 minutes long EP features 5 tracks. The title track would later be included on "Serpent Saints: The Ten Amendments (2007)", but the rest of the material is exclusive to this release. The music style is the usual death metal style with death´n´roll leanings. This time around the band have put more emphasis on brutality and less on the rock part of their sound though. The tracks are generally both catchy and memorable. The title track is great and so are "Heresy", "Carnage" and "Thou Shalt Kill". The atmospheric closer "Amen" isn´t that interesting, but all is forgiven since the rest of the material is as strong as it is. Not surprisingly the musicianship reeks class. L-G Petrov is also still one of the best extreme metal vocalists in the business. Distinct sounding, completely intelligible, and passionate.

"When in Sodom" features a nice and raw sound production that suits the music well and besides "Amen", which I see as an odd EP type track, that would never have made it unto a full-length studio album, "When in Sodom" is a strong release by Entombed. They might not possess the incredible strength of their early years, but they still deliver their music with more conviction than most and a 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
