"Cosmic Cult" is the debut full-length studio album by Russian death metal act Dig Me No Grave. The album was released through Satanath Records in March 2014. The first CD pressing was for 1.000 copies. The album is also available in digital format. Dig Me No Grave was formed in Vologda in 2010 and released a couple of minor releases before the release of "Cosmic Cult".

The music on the album is a brutal and dark type of old school death metal with the occasional technical edge. It´s artists like Immolation and Morbid Angel I´m reminded of, but Dig Me No Grave isn´t a clone band by any means. They are not the most original sounding act either though, but the quality of what they do is high throughout. High level musicianship, a powerful and raw sound production, and relatively interesting songwriting, are some of the assets of the album. The tracks could have featured more hooks though and the growling vocals are a bit one-dimensional and delivered in a monotone fashion. Lead vocalist Alexey Rumyantsev has a great voice, but a bit more vocal variation and a more intelligible growling vocal style, would probably have been more successful. Other than those small issues "Cosmic Cult" is a high quality death metal release through and through.

So "Cosmic Cult" is overall a pretty great release by Dig Me No Grave. It probably won´t revolutionize the world of death metal but it´s probably not meant to either, but if you set your expectations to listening to a solid old school sounding death metal release, "Cosmic Cult" is definitely worth a listen. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
