Denouncement Pyre, an Australian metal trio, released this album back in 2010, and in all its misanthropic and heathen barbaric glory, "World Cremation" must have been one of the most evil albums to be released that year.

Stylistically, Denouncement Pyre's brand of blackened death metal belongs at the rawer end of the scale with its emphasis on blastbeats and primitive riffage - both in terms of the black metal riffage and the death metal riffage with tracks like 'Purification' and 'Coven of Diabolical Prophecies' delivering some of the most to-the-bone death metal since the late 80s, while tracks like 'Black Womb of Magdalena' and 'Engulfed Temples' as well as 'A Banner Drenched in Blood' offering up some raw black metal chaos.

Despite the rawness of the music itself, Denouncement Pyre have not opted for a lo-fi production, but rather one which is well defined, but far from polished. I appreciate thish move, as it allows the listener to hear what is actually going on musically, and it also makes the inherent aggressivity in the music come across to the listener.

"World Cremation" is pure evil compressed into eight compact tracks, and any fan of black metal and blackened death metal should definitely check it out.
