CHAOS INCEPTION THE ABROGATION reviews

J-Man
Hailing from Huntsville, Alabama, Chaos Inception is a death metal band that plays the genre how most fans probably like it - fast, brutal, and violent enough to leave you bleeding in a gutter for days! The Abrogation, the second album from this American quartet, doesn't waste any time messing around, and its devastating onslaught of blastbeats and guttural growls is likely to appeal to fans of Nile, Morbid Angel, and Hate Eternal. Chaos Inception hardly brings anything new to the table, but their dark and intelligent brand of death metal is as well-executed as can be.

The Abrogation definitely has a bit of an old school vibe going for it (comparisons to bands like Morbid Angel and Deicide certainly aren't far fetched), but Chaos Inception also has an extremely brutal and technical edge that may be more comparable to contemporary acts like Nile and Hate Eternal. The album's dark and sinister edge gives it a nice atmosphere, and although the album ends in just over a half-hour, the band keeps their music intense for the entire ride. Music this furious is much better suited for a quick and chaotic listen, and I think Chaos Inception definitely did a nice job with keeping the album feeling consistent and entertaining the entire way through.

Fortunately, the musicianship and production are also both top-notch, so The Abrogation is simply a quality recording through and through. Chaos Inception may not offer anything revolutionary on their sophomore effort, but the solid compositions and blistering technicality make this worth investigating for fans of Nile, Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, and Deicide for sure.
