arcane-beautiful
So, this being the last Cannibal Corpse album, I am waiting with baited breath for a new one, cause to be honest, I need alot more death metal in my life, and would be happy to either get recomendations for bands, or what Cannibal Corpse album I should get next.

So, does this album match up to the rest of these guys discography...obviously...and as their current albums have done, their moving in a foward direction.

I was a little disapointed, cause the last 2 albums didn't have the cool interesting graphic covers, but maybe this is a new era for Cannibal Corpse, for all you know, a lovely wee puppy could be on the next one...

... ... COVERED IN BLOOD!

Death metal is forever changing, and Cannibal Corpse will always try and push themselves foward, yet being recognised as legends...which they are...and this album prooves it...

1. Prists Of Sodom - Great lyrics. Some sick and interesting rhythms. Pretty catchy. 10/10

2. Scalding Hail - Very frantic and kick ass. 10/10

3. To Decompose - I love the fast vocals and racing guitar work. 10/10

4. A Cauldron Of Hate - Quite doomy. Pretty brutal. 9/10

5. Beheading & Burning - Pretty cool riffs. Bit filler. 7/10

6. Evidence In The Furance - Great lyrics. Some cool vocals. 9/10

7. Carnivorous Swarm - Cool lyrics. Pretty much standard Cannibal Corpse. 8/10

8. Evisceration Plague - Quite different to a standard Corpse song... 10/10

9. Shatter Their Bones - Great chorus and lyrics. Kick ass riffs too. 10/10

10. Carrion Sculpted Enitity - Great groovy and black like moments. 9/10

11. Unnatural - Interesting arrangement. Quite exciting. 9/10

12. Skewered From Ear To Eye - Great arrangement. Good chorus. Nice vivid lyrics. 9/10

CONCLUSION: They never really disapoint me, and long live death metal!

"Evisceration Plague" is the 11th full-length studio album by US death metal act Cannibal Corpse. The album was released through Metal Blade Records in February 2009. As the case was on the predecessor "Kill (2006)", "Evisceration Plague" was produced by Erik Rutan (Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, Alas, Ripping Corpse).

The music on the album is the unmistakable sound of Cannibal Corpse. Brutal, technically well played, and predominantly fast-paced gore-themed death metal. With Cannibal Corpse releases it´s not the musical style that is surprising because the band have actually only made minor adjustments to the core sound they initiated on their debut album "Eaten Back to Life" back in 1990. So purchasing a Cannibal Corpse album will almost always mean that you get what you expect. What´s interesting is the quality of the material though, because while most of the band´s albums are solid death metal releases, the quality does vary some. "Evisceration Plague" is to my ears one of the band´s better releases.

The tracks are more or less distinguishable from one another even though all tracks are really brutal death metal songs. Evisceration Plague succeeds, not only because Cannibal Corpse are excellent musicians and the playing is tight, powerful, and convincing, but also because they´ve succeeded in writing some memorable hooklines that are capable of maintaining my attention in the midst of the relentless brutality. Take a song like the title track with it´s mid-paced and heavy sound. It hooked me on first listen or the fiercely fast-paced "Scalding Hail". Now that´s how really brutal death metal should be composed.

Even Erik Rutan, who often create chaotic sounding productins where not all instruments are equally audible, has done a great job on the production. It´s powerful, raw, and detailed. The sound on "Evisceration Plague" is a far cry from the more messy and murky sund production on "Kill (2006)".

I wasn´t too impressed by "Kill (2006)" which I found a bit monotone, but I guess the 3 years between "Kill (2006)" and "Evisceration Plague" were spend writing stronger material because "Evisceration Plague" is overall a much stronger and more memorable album than "Kill (2006)". The sound production is superior, the tracks stand out more, and the band simply sound more inspired. A 3.5 - 4 star (75%) rating is deserved.
