"Triumvirate" is the 2nd full-length studio album by US blackened thrash metal act Black Anvil. The album was released through Relapse Records in September 2010.
The music on "Triumvirate" is fiercely aggressive, energetic and mostly fast-paced blackened thrash metal packed in a powerful and professional sounding production. Fast riffing, fast drumming and an aggressive sneering vocal delivery. It´s rather old school at it´s core, but it doesn´t necessarily sound retro. It is the early releases by acts like Slayer, Kreator and Sodom I´m reminded of the most though.
"Triumvirate" isn´t an album that will revolutionize blackened thrash metal, but it sure is a damn effective and powerful fist to the face kind of release, that is meant to make your head bang and your body move in spastic jerks. I can assure you, it works like that on me. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
