Dutch band THE KUNTAUTCULT was formed around 1994, at first sporting the moniker Bodybag. They released the demo "Skullcrushing Horror" in 1996, which proved to be a more successful venture than the band had imagined, and sold out a couple of months later.
Soon after they changed their name to The KuntautCult, and hit the studio again in 1998 to record what was planned as an EP. However, when they were signed by Displeasure Records this production was expanded to a full length album, which was released in 1999 as "From The Pits".
The band split up not too long after though, and the album will have to bar testimony of a band in it's first formative phase that never got the chance to evolve their sound. Indeed, the latest news from The KuntAutCult was that they had recorded tracks taking their musical approach in a more groove-oriented direction.
