I'd like to get into the head of Steve Vai and can, therefore, understand what drove him to write an album as "The Ultra Zone". Yes, because "The Ultra Zone" is an album that I insert in Jazz Metal, without there being a person who can deny me in an absolute sense. Honestly, beyond the "Frank (homage to Frank Zappa) and Jibboom, a homage to Steve Ray Vaughan, "The Ultra Zone" is an album that would have been great even in the discography of King Crimson! But, having said that, in this "The Ultra Zone" Steve Vai proves to be a great composer as a performer disturbed by delusions of control of his mind. As a sort of modern Robert Fripp, Vai seeks to dominate the world of sounds and colors. The end result is an abstract and concrete music, Jazz and Metal, poor and rich. Not classifiable as a specific genre, after all.

Listen to this album as "The Ultra Zone" is like going back to the beginnings of music. Only, in this case, there is nothing to communicate. Than the pleasure and devotion to music.
