One of the most unique doom metal release out there, but also very much an aquired taste because of the vocals. I think the pairing of technical playing and doom metal riffs and heaviness is pretty brilliant but I have to be in the mood to listen to the vocals. When I am this is a great release.

Glad to see another Road Rash fan! Hopefully through some correspondance with some artists involved in the soundtrack (not counting on a reply from Chevelle though), I'll post my article within a few months. I only have this album and Wonder What's Next. Like both, and would definitely buy more as I run across them. Having a twin brother that is also a musician (a much better one than me!), I loved that they were once an all-brother trio.

Oh
hell yeah, two of my favorite things, Chevelle and Road Rash! I've been
meaning to check out more from the artists I'm not familiar with off
that soundtrack, but haven't gotten around to it. |

Chevelle - Sci-Fi Crimes
Inspired by a blog post I'm working on this year since they contributed to one of my most enjoyed video game soundtracks ever in Road Rash: Jailbreak!

Pakeni is the band who proves that death´n´roll can be more than generic Entombed worship: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/pakeni/detergent-bubble-bath(ep) My G.....this is kickass music. Really unique and challening death´n´roll.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Fever_(soundtrack) Yeah I just watched a documentary about the Bee Gees, and I was fascinated by their talent and unique singing style and harmonies. It´s cheesy as fuck, but damn it´s well composed music. |

I don't listen to many video game OST's outside of the game itself, but this is an exception: This is seriously one of my all time favorite nu jazz songs, and there's tons of great electronic in several forms, jazz, and swing songs on this soundtrack. Boris Salchow needs to make an album, or at least get this soundtrack released on CD or vinyl.

One thing I'd say that would actually be relevant here, is this fictional in-game album from the recent Guardians of the Galaxy game: They made an actual album in the style of classic 80's heavy metal/hard rock, by a fictional band called Starlord.

For a while they had been the only deathcore band I consistently liked. That may not be true anymore, not because this album's a disappointment (it's probably their best yet, imo) but because it feels like they've moved beyond Deathcore on this one. They had hinted at it a bit on previous albums, but this album really feels like a big step forward for them.

^I don´t know what to make of that cover artwork. It´s vile and disturbing, but it looks staged. Some of their earlier artwork are much more grotesque and gory. Oh well...I´m listening to: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/afflicted/wanderland(demo) ...and enjoying it greatly. It´s probbaly one of the best death metal demos from the early 90s I´ve come across yet. Too bad they had such a short shapeshifting career. The style they play on this demo is right down my alley.
