I listened to Nacthymnen. It was pretty good, but didn't impress me that much. However this sounds awesome, maybe I should check that album out.

If you read the story behind the Leviathan album, itīs impossible not the get intrigued. This is pure undiluted hatred. I donīt know what the truth is in the actual case, but Iīm always intrigued by extremely hateful music when itīs delivered in a convincing way.

Satanized is actually widely considered to be Abigor's weakest album. I think it's their second best. It improved on what was good about Channeling the Quintessence of Satan while removing a lot of what was bad about it, such as the pauses for the creepy humming.

There's a lot of Windir songs that have this sad yet epic tone to it. It's like Valfar already died of hypothermia long before it physically happened and the music was made by his wandering ghost. Still, one of the more tragic deaths in metal. RIP.

Leviathan has a lot of hate in its music. Wrest actually is one of the few musicians who can really wield this misanthropic atmosphere and make something awesome out of it. Leviathan is one of the best US black metal acts right now. And I still haven't even checked out the 2011 album! He puts a great number of unique songs in non-full-length releases. That's why I really want to collect all the splits. Here's a great and hateful piece from the split of Iuvenes. |
