This is actually considered a folk metal album, but the metal side of the music here draws on raw black metal so I thought I'd share it here. Quite an atmospheric and melancholic release, and certainly needs more love on MMA. Here's a sample. They changed their sound a lot after this, just to give you an idea: Their new 2011 release beings back the black/folk style though, but it's more polished than on the above album. Very different feel.

My recently purchased copy of Zirnindu Sa by Negura Bunget has two CDs. Disc 1 is the album's original mix, disc 2 is a re-mixed version. The biggest difference in teh re-mixed version is that the keyboards are less prominent (which I think is kinda a bad thing). But it was only $9.99 new, and I do like the album art more than the original, so it's a win-win here.

I love how all three of Darkspace's albums are on the top black metal list here: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/black-metal(subgenre).aspx

Hey UMUR. If you liked my review for Dark Space III, you should see the epic I made for Dark Space I. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/darkspace--dark-space-i.aspx

Those Darkspace albums were really easy to write a lot of stuff about because of the visualizations I come up with. I really must try it with other bands.
I'm thinking maybe I'll start with this. I can already think of some kind of visualization to the cathartic music here. |

Ive had that album on rotation for a couple of weeks too. It also took me a while to get into but its a really great album I agree. I especially like the acoustic prog folky sections which reminds me slightly of Opeth.

But...why does that cover art look like it could fit in on a goregrind/pornogrind album?

No, and it doesn't sound like it should either. The guy has really changed his image as well:

That's cool. I think a third wave of black metal is coming on, if it hasn't already.
