I came here to spit some venom I kept in me for... my whole life, actually. Really, avoid Polish people, they're either stupid and noisy or grumpy and over-ambitious. While I'm not stupid and not particularly noisy, I can easily relate to the other two.

So, here's the venom: I live in a dirty, gloomy place where winter = cold, depression and extremely polluted air. What's even worse, you can't just go to the walmart and buy a gun, so it makes suicide or "kill your fucking neighours who burn tires and used oil to heat their houses" so terribly difficult, that it's even more depressing.

Anyway, glad to be back. Any cool albums out there? I'm not up to date...

Hey BARTOSSO. Where do you live in Poland? I've actually been there 3 times pretty much around the whole country. I actually quite liked it but it wasn't in winter. I'm originally from the state of Nebraska in the US and i can relate because i always felt like i was born in the wrong place. Poland reminded me a lot of where i'm from, in fact many of the people there are of Polish decent. Music was my savior! We didn't have Walmarts back then and i suck with guns! Sorry to hear you're not diggin your scene but from someone whose been there, done that - you will move on

Haha, no worries, I will leave this realm of joy if only I manage to survive till then Smile My homeland is good for people with strong set of genes. I, on the other hand, seem to be susceptible to health problems caused by pollution. I have to get the master's degree first, only 6 months to go. My sister is going to move to Sweden very soon so I'll try to join her there and hopefully start a new, better life as a translator or teacher or whoever. Maybe even as a musician, what the hell!

Awesome, what were you here for Tongue?? I live in an urban agglomeration in Silesia that used to be the biggest industrial region in Poland before the communist regime collapsed. The city I live in is called Gliwice and is actually quite old (700 years old or so) and quite nice. And I hear you man, but it could have been worse. Btw, I have a friend in Colorado who have grandparents in Nebraska... just flatlands and fields everywhere, right? Well polish landscape is actually quite diverse, the nature, forests and the sea are the only good things about that country.

I did four major trips in Europe on train lasting months. I spent a whole month in Poland one time. Went everywhere from Gdansk to Bialyostok to the Biolawieza Forest to Krakow and Zakopane to Wroclow and more. Loved it. Yeah i should have said parts of Poland remind of Nebraska. The rolling hills of the central part. Where i'm from no trees or coast lines. I loved the old cities like Krakow and Torun. Way cool country but i have never lived there. I think everywhere sucks after you live there long enough!!!! That's why i love to travel.Big smile

If you go live in Malmö that´s very close to where I live and you´ll be able to take the train to Copenhagen. It takes about 20 - 30 minutes. Actually it´s faster getting from Malmö to Copenhagen than to Copenhagen from the suburb where I live LOL. Sweden is as far as I´ve heard a nice country to live in. Also for imigrants.

That sounds great, you're a real globetrotter! Białowieża is indeed beautiful, and Zakopane is the capital of skiing in Poland Yep, there are some nice places here (even though most big cities have been terribly damaged during the WWII, it's quite sad). Yes, the central part of Poland is certainly the least attractive. I'd still love to visit Nebraska and all other states for that matter I can't afford that for now, though.

That's most probably going to be Stockholm but I'd go to Copenhagen anyway! We could even meet there, that would be awesome!!! I mean, at least for me LOL Oh man, I'm both scared of leaving this place and determined to do so. I'm not a patriot anymore, that helps a lot. Citizen of the world is who I am now.

Yeah definitely contact me if you ever come to Copenhagen. Stockholm is very far from Denmark though. 600 kilometers or something like that.

One of these days, I'm going to go to prog archives under a stupid name and insist that Merzbow is progressive.

Now the question is whether they belong under avant prog, eclectic prog, or progressive electronic...

I'm pretty sure that's been done half a dozen times.  As long as Philippe is on the progressive electronic team it's not going to happen

Probably eclectic prog then.  According to their own definition:

"The term 'eclectic' in the context of progressive rock describes a summation of elements from various musical sources, and the influences and career paths of bands that take from a wide range of genres or styles. While progressive music can be, in a larger sense, eclectic, the 'Eclectic Prog' term is specially meant to reference bands that trespass the boundaries of established Progressive Rock genres or that blend many influences."

And since Merzbow is a summation of everything in the universe, it's actually more progressive than anything else ever made in the history of ever.

Nah, probably not THAT kind of progressive they look for over there. PA is like a separate universe, no matter how hard you try, the alien logic they follow will elude you.
