For me, ones I know about are new ones from Serenity (power metal from Austria) and Sacred Mother Tongue (metalcore from England).

Enchant (prog, not metal) is supposed to have a new one out but us fans have heard that before, I'm not holding my breath.

What about you guys? What releases are you looking forward to in 2013?

The new albums from Suffocation and Portal should be interesting.  There's also a new Manilla Road, Voivod, and Cult of Luna on the way.

Plus, Behemoth said they'd be back in the studio next year.

I already have a bunch of 2013 albums as promos. There's a few big ones coming though. Helloween, Avantasia, A Sound of Thunder, Wolfchant, probably a few more I haven't catalogued yet.

A new Avantasia?

Is it more rockin' like the last three, or more power metal like the first two? (I like both styles, fwiw)

I wouldn't know, I don't have that one yet. I only have the ones marked as Digital rather than Wishlist.

Ive only listened to the new Helloween so far. Its alright but nothing too special to my ears. Im looking forward to the new Suffocation and hopefully a new Psychotic Waltz album. And if Im really lucky a new Fates Warning album.

Hopefully Nokturnal Mortum's next album "Істина" (The Truth) will come out sometime in 2013. Same with Fanisk's "Insularum" which was supposed to come out this year on October 22nd, but that apparently never happened yet.

I didn't even know about a new Carcass album until now, but I will definitely be looking forward to that one. I have already heard the Voivod album, and, well, it doesn't suck.

Other than that, I am looking forward to hearing Queensrche's new/old direction after they booted Geoff Tate, and, of course, Fates Warning's new album if they get around to releasing it next year. Oh, and the rumored new Psychotic Waltz album.

Their last album happened to be the album of the year 2011 and I couldn't even sit through the whole thing, not to mention enjoying it. So I sincerely hope they're not working on new material, I'm sorry to say that... just had to find an outlet for frustration I feel every time I visit the main pageTongue

explain to me what you think is so wrong with the arch and matheos album because all i hear when i listen to it is beautifully and meticulously  made progressive metal

Oh it's very simple and I almost feel embarrassed to use that kind of argument... but I just hate his vocals. Besides that's not exactly a type of progressive metal I like. It's definitely an extremely well-crafted album though, and some parts are really interesting.

ok now i see what you don't like about it. But from your post above i thought you thought it was pure garbage. also i don't how you can go from not wanting them to do another album to saying their current album is well crafted

Relax dude! All I'm saying is that an album I don't like ended up being the collaborators album of the year. I haven't been COMPLETELY serious when I said I didn't want them to work together again. I don't really care. I just think Sympathetic Resonance is a classic prog metal album and as such it appeals mostly to people who like the genre. I'd like MMA to be a universal site for all fans of metal but by showing this album to newcomers as our favourite of the year 2011, we send them a message: "this is a site dominated by classic prog metal fans". I just don't want MMA to be that way forever.

I thought that album was good, but not that good. Instrumentally it was top notch prog metal but the vocals struck me as a very acquired taste and it took me several listens to at least be able to tolerate them. I can understand why it won though so it doesn't really bother me. Bilateral by Leprous coming (joint) second is a different matter. That album bored me to death.

Though it is true we are still very prog dominated here, but remember that despite the last few years, a black metal album was voted top by the collabs in 2010. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1371" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1371

The new Angra release with Fabio Lione.

The new The Reptilians album, called "The Breakers", which will be released in the first semester of 2013.

The concept album by Torture Squad, about the brazilian dictatorship, which (maybe) will be released this year.

The new album of the prog metallers of Dynahead.

The new album of Imago Mortis.

He did a great job with Kamelot the night I saw them. A couple of times he was a bit pitchy, but I noticed he didn't wear any in-ear monitors/ear plugs. When the music is loud like that, even the best of singers can go slightly off-key occasionally.

Well, not exactly a 2013 recording but certainly a release this year I am very much looking forward to.

Brookvale / Warner Bros. 2LP 180-gram Ltd. Numbered Edition

Limited to 2000 copies worlwide, hand numbered, audiophile quality mastering and pressed on two 180-gram black vinyl discs. The edition i high quality gatefold cover.

Dream Theater formed in 1985 under the name Majesty. The lineup has evolved to become John Petrucci (guitar, founding member), John Myung (bass, founding member), James LaBrie (vocals), Jordan Rudess (keyboards and continuum) and drummer Mike Mangini.

"Proof positive that one can be a virtuoso musician and also have heart, Dream Theater are in impressive form on this album, arguably their best. They do it by never allowing technical flash to overwhelm their songs; there's substance under the style, in the form of ear-catching riffs and aggressive rhythms. The opening 'Pull Me Under' is, quite simply, a great song, from its sparse introduction to its heavy-duty main riff to its memorable lyrics. Dream Theater, as its name implies, is an introspective band, exploring the complexities of the human heart and bringing them to life with songs like 'Learning to Live,' 'Take the Time,' and 'Wait for Sleep.' Unlike many metal bands, they favor an optimistic outlook, as with 'Another Day' and 'Surrounded,' and even the dazzlingly complex 'Metropolis, Pt. 1' is an entertaining listen."

Hey those of you waiting on Time II!  You're going to have to wait until 2014 now to get the second half of the album that should have been released in whole in 2012!

Im getting a bit tired of this "Chinese Democracy" thing they have going for them. Just release the god damn thing now wont you...Angry

I just hope they get the mix right on Time II, since we have to wait a year.

Time I is a great album, no doubt, but the mix is horrible (at least on my cd). Spikey volume levels and guitars buried by the orchestration.

I would be happy (and I'd re-purchase it) if they re-issued Time I and used the audio off of the bonus dvd. The audio on the dvd is much, much better.

i keep thinking of new releases that are coming out that i'm looking forwanr to.

black tide is demoing stuff for a new album. so whenever a new album surfaces i want to see if they get their heads out of their asses and actualy make a follow up to light from above or continue down the path of post mortem. i still love light from aove and always wanted to see this band grow and continue with the light from above sound.

also a few months ago on some site i read that beyond creation is working on new material. i cant remember where i read it though.

just found out that animals as leaders is doing a new album

I can't wait for the new Rotting Christ. They haven't disappointed me yet!

Besides Rotting Christ's new album, I'm looking forward to Atlantean Kodex's The White Goddess. I loved The Golden Bough so my hopes are pretty high!

yet another one that i thought of. the new megadeth  album super collider. while i don't think they need a new album yet because they have been putting out albums like every 2 years they will put an album out then tour for the remaining of the year after they put the new album and all of the following year then do another album. even though i think they should wait another year for a new album. That said, it will still be cool to see what they do on it because megadeth is like my 2nd favorite band
