I think it's time to give some appreciation to the underrated members of most metal bands, the bassists! As a bassist myself I usually pay a lot of attention to the bassists, and I don't think many of them get the attention they deserve. So list your favorites!

In no order:
Rob Trujillo (Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, Metallica)
Frank Bello (Anthrax)
Michael Anthony (Van Halen)
Dave Ellefson (Megadeth)
D.D. Verni (Overkill)
Cliff Burton (Metallica)
Geddy Lee (Rush)
Fieldy (Korn)
Sam Rivers (Limp Bizkit)
Ryan Martinae (Mudvayne)
Dean Bernardini (Chevelle)

The bassist isn't someone who usually stands out in a group to me, but there are a few notables:

Dominic "Forest" Lapointe (Augury, ex-Beyond Creation)
Jeroen Paul Thesseling (ex-Obscura)
Steve Harris (Iron Maiden)
John Myung (Dream Theater)

John Myung is great, it's a shame that the only album I can really hear him on is Octavarium.

Dan Lilker. Just look at the projects he's been involved in- Anthrax, Nuclear Assault, SOD, Brutal Truth, Exit-13, and lots of others. Love his style. Just in-your-face enough to be noticed, but not trying to steal the show.
