Hey guys, returning from my long break from these forums with sad tidings.

http://www.metalsucks.net/2015/12/28/lemmy-kilmister-of-motorhead-dies-at-70/

Lemmy was one of the few guys in metal where if you mentioned his name there was no need to clarify which bands he was associated with - even if you were talking to an audience who weren't that into metal.

Very sad news indeed, first Philthy now Lemmy. I know he's been battling health issues for a while now, but it's still a big shock knowing that such a legend has passed away.

Rest in peace to a true rock legend.

Sad but not unexpected. I actually heard it on the TV news here, which was highly unexpected.

Remarkable bloke and musician. RIP. Guess that's Motorhead off the Download Festival roster, which is a particular shame as I'm taking mt youngest with me and Lemmy was one person I'd have loved for him to have seen in action. Will be missed.

The BBC reported it here and actually did one of the better obituaries, giving proper credit to his stint in Hawkwind. Though of course Motorhead took up more space in the article, as was only appropriate, particularly since an obituary for Lemmy is effectively an obituary for Motorhead too.

RIP. Mr. Ace of Spades.   As previously mentioned, not a major surprise given his failing health, but still sad news.  Interesting to read that it was a recently diagnosed aggressive cancer.  With his recent health issues it sounds as though his doctors may have missed this but cancer is such a bitch of a disease.
