Especially with their earlier stuff, these guys have showed alot of metal in there songs. These guys do have some incredibly metal riffs.
I think maybe Hard Rock or Alternative Metal would be good enough

I love the Smashing Pumpkins. I know they were suggested and rejected earlier on. It's one of those artists that I know has some pretty heavy stuff, but at the same time I never really considered them to be a metal band. Not sure if a few heavy songs per album is enough to cut it to be honest.

I think Gish and Siamese Dream are pretty much hard rock albums. songs like Siva and Cherub Rock definitly have that almost stoner black sabbath vibe. Zeitgeist is a very heavy album too. Machine has 2 of their heaviest songs with The Everlasting Gaze and Heavy Metal Machine, and Mellon Collie has some monster hard rock/metal songs like Jelly Belly, Here Is No Why, Tales Of A Scortched Earth, Porcelina Of The Oceans Blue, An Ode To No One, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Zero, Love, Muzzle, Bodies, Thru The Eyes Of Ruby, XYU. Thats basically half the album. And it is a double album. And even Adore had Ava Adore which is basically a industrial metal song

No, Arcane... no. They are not metal. Influenced, for sure, but more alt rock.

I would say they have several Alternative Metal songs, but not enough for a full album.
But I agree they are more metal then Nickelback.

Yes, Nickelback, I don't agree with their inclusion also, but they are here...

Nickelback are very clearly a hard rock band. MMA has a hard rock sub. Where is the problem with their inclusion?
But regardless, this is a thread for Smashing Pumpkins, not Nickelback, and the 'if band A is here then band B should be too' vibe I'm getting from this thread isn't really helping their case.
From the sound of it this band has the best chance for hard rock, so I'll ask the HR team to evaluate.

When you put it that way, it makes it look like the Hard Rock sub is just an excuse to add bands that are only very remotely relevant in metal if at all like Nickelback, Nirvana, and in this case Smashing Pumpkins. This is a Metal Music database, not a Metal and Rock one.

One correction: This is an Archive not a Database, there is a subtle but distinct difference. HR will provide its decision in due course. Play nicely please.
