some lazy copy/paste from wiki Embarrassed, but this band should be in MMA, but maybe not sludge, i just throwed it out there since it have some sludge elements, but also a doom metal and traditional heavy metal sound also

Djerv
is a Norwegian band, whose music is a mix of rock, heavy metal and black metal.

Members

As at September 2011 the members are:

  • Stian Krstad (guitar), who also plays in Trelldom.
  • Erlend Gjerde (drums), formerly of Stonegard.

Discography
  • Headstone (EP) (2010)
  • Djerv (2011)

http://www.facebook.com/djervmusic

this is probably one of the best bands and albums released this decade

I remember they were suggested before (maybe by you), but I don't think they fit into any of the categories at the time.  Hard rock would probably be the closest, so if that team doesn't think they fit, then I doubt they'd be added here.  Maybe alt-metal could possibly be a fit.

I don't know if the hard rock category existed at the initial suggestion time, so I'll check with that team.

Looking at the old thread, it doesn't appear a decision was made (or at least it wasn't posted there).

It's very poppy stuff, that's for sure (the first 2 songs at least).  I've seen them described as gothic, but that may be in image only (not sure).  It might be appropriate for alt.  Definitely not thrash or sludge.

I also checked the alt-metal thread and they were never mentioned there.  I don't remember discussing them in the sludge thread either.

The first sample posted sounds sort of like sludge to me, the others mostly alt or hard rock I'd say.  I do think they belong on the site, just not sure where.

I've just taken a listen and IMO they are a touch too heavy for HR.

Alt. or Trad would be a better fit.

Dan/Kim? Thoughts?

We'll take them if you disagree.

After another listen, I feel confident that they can be added to alt metal.  I'll get on doing that in a short while. Smile
