    Posted: 08 Apr 2018 at 5:24pm
Hey guys, this post and list was extremely difficult for me to make considering I am a huge fan of this band and that I think so many of their albums are just amazing works. All things considered however I made a list and I was wondering how you guys would rank your favorite albums by this band (Rush). Make a list if you can. Here is mine

19) Test for Echo
18) Roll the Bones
17) Presto
16) Vapor Trails
15) Counterparts
14) Snakes & Arrows
13) Clockwork Angels
12) Rush
11) Fly by Night
10) Caress of Steel
9) Signals
8) Hold Your Fire
7) Grace Under Pressure
6) Power Windows
5) 2112
4) Permanent Waves
3) Moving Pictures
2) Hemispheres

And 1) A Farewell to Kings

How would you make your list? Big smile

4. Permanent Waves
5. Moving Pictures
6. Vapor Trails
7. Rush
8. Fly By Night

16. Hemispheres
17. Power Windows
18. Roll the Bones
19. Hold Your Fire

I often switch between Roll the Bones or Hold Your Fire being my least favorite, and many of the others past 8 and before those two can be switched around pretty interchangeably.

^Hemispheres would be a lot higher if it wasn't for the title track. Too much repetition of more boring bits, and too little repetition of the awesome hooks that are in the song. To each their own and all that. After all, I'm probably the only one who ranks Caress of Steel alongside Master of Reality as best metal album of the 70's. Wink

The title track cooks. One of the best Rush tracks. I don't think it is repetitive

^Wow! Surprised to see someone say Power Windows is their favorite Rush album. It does have a couple of my favorite Rush songs (Mystic Rhythms and Manhattan Project), but I personally have always thought it has a bit too much filler. What do you love about it?

Well in parts it isn't repetitive enough, I really wish there was a lot more of that awesome marching riff.

Your #1 and 2 are the same for me (although they switch back and forth)... I was concerned to see Test for Echo last (since that's where it was on a Rush forum poll) but I'm glad to see others rated it higher.  The last 4 albums on my list are practically unlistenable to me but T4E I found a pleasant surprise, not great but not awful either.

1) A Farewell to Kings
2) Hemispheres
3) Permanent Waves
4) Moving Pictures
5) Signals
6) Power Windows
7) 2112
8) Caress of Steel
9) Clockwork Angels
10) Grace Under Pressure
11) Fly by Night
12) Test for Echo
13) Hold Your Fire
14) Vapor Trails
15) Rush
16) Snakes & Arrows
17) Presto
18) Counterparts
19) Roll the Bones
