I got into metal through prog, so I'm a fan of Opeth (the GhostOf in my name), Gojira (the Sirius), Gorguts, Devin Townsend, Strapping Young Lad, Tesseract, Animals as Leaders, Meshuggah, Intronaut, Between the Buried and Me, Obscura, Death, Atheist, Tool, Mastodon, Pomegranate Tiger, Cynic, Beyond Creation, and plenty that I'm forgetting at the moment.

In short I like jazz-influenced metal and/or very dissonant metal.

^Hey, I like that a lot! The vocals remind me a lot of Chuck Shuldiner later in Death's career, only more unhinged. And I think I just found a new favourite metal guitar solo in Echoless Chambers. Thumbs Up

To carry the theme, got into metal through prog which I got into through metal and hard rock. The two seem to always go hand-in-hand.
