Why superficial? I feel album covers and artwork in general really strengthens the mood of an album.
Some favorites of mine: Just the first few to come up in my mind at this moment, but there are tons more that I love. Tool also has fantastic artwork with their albums, though the packaging has a much bigger role than just the cover there. |

Let's get superficial here for a bit, and judge albums by the covers.
I've always liked Blot Thrower's covers, but that's probably because I used to be quite into Warhammer 40K. Most of their artworks were made for the use of Games Workshop (who produce the Warhammer/ 40K games), and are used by the band with their permission. One of the more iconic covers to me is Hypocrisy's Osculum Obscenum, though the logo is anything but readable. What album covers do you like? Or, why not, what albums covers do you really hate? |
