Wilytank knows his stuff, The Dwelling is a masterpiece. It's unfortunate that many people don't give black metal a chance because they're ignoring a goldmine of amazing music.

In my record store they have this real kvlt black metal section. This case of all these black and white albums with the "butterfly" logo and some grim picture.

They all look exactly the same! LOLShould take a pic
Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Testament. The real Big Four of thrash metal!

Yeah you�re right Scott. It really does look like butterflies doesn�t it!. I�m not much of a black metal expert myselft, so I can�t say I recognise many of the logos.

Im pretty new to black metal aswell, but here are some of my favs so far:
 
Watain - Lawless darkness & sworn to the dark.
Marduk - Heaven shall burn... when we are gathered, Thos of the unlight, night wing & Opus nocturn.
Darkthrone - A blaze in the northern sky, under a funeral moon, transilvanian hunger & panzerfaust.
Mayhem - De mysteriis dom satahnas & wolfs lair abyss.
Emperor - In the night side eclips. anthems the welkin at dusk, the disciplin of fire and dimise
Burzum - de som eng�ng var, hivis lyste tar oss, filosofem.
Immortal - Battles in the north & all shall fall.

it really looks like a glorified butterfly collection. Can someone translate these?

I'm not missing out on it - I've heard most of it and haven't been impressed. Wink

And I agree - most symphonic black metal is way overdone, but I do enjoy bands like Emperor tremendously. Of course, if you have an old school BM suggestion that I haven't heard and think I might enjoy, I'd be willing to check it out. Smile
