Re-watched a few favourites that I'd seen earlier this year:

Fargo (1996) - to celebrate finishing the TV series.

V for Vendetta (2005) - I think this is a brilliant movie with some great dialogue.

Zombieland (2009) - I can see that this is going to be one of those films that I watch a lot. No less funny the second time around.

Contact (1997) - love this sci-fi movie.

All pretty great movies I agree. I as really impressed by V for Vendetta, which I watched last year for the first time, and I have to give it a run Again soon.

Not your typical zombie film by any means.

And I'm seeing this one tonight:

I just wrote quite a long post about this, then my laptop refreshed the page for no reason and I lost the lot and now I can't be fucked. Short version: this film is considerably better than critics would have you believe, though I can see it being a very acquired taste.

Very good, gritty western.

A decent vampire film, made all the more creepy by being filmed in black and white. Plot could have been thickened a bit, but I enjoyed its atmosphere. Not sure why Wikipedia and some critics call it a western though.

John Wick racks up another body count in this action sequel. As good as the first IMO. Be interesting if they can keep it up with the 3rd one.

Good one directed by Clint Eastwood.

Another previously unseen horror classic off my list. Enjoyed this one more than Friday the 13th, but not as much as Halloween.

Cliché upon cliché. Danm it´s a Waste of talent when Travolta and Denzel chose to act in a movie like this. My son liked it though.

The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009)

and it's a remake of a 70s movie.

Found it a bit slow to be honest. A letdown considering it's high critical acclaim.

It's basically the same story as John Wick, but a western. In spite of what seems to be a ripoff plot I enjoyed the film.

Sleepy Hollow - I liked it.

Evil Dead (2013) - Decent remake. Wouldn't say it's better or worse. Maybe a slightly serious tone.

I saw it long time ago, maybe I need to watch it again some time. Post 2000 Travolta is rather horrid IMO.
Don't listen to me, I like old movies. Anyway... Big smile

SPOILER WARNING.

Mixed feelings. On its own it's solid enough and based on memory alone better than the earlier Tomb Raider movies (but I'd need to re-see those to be sure), but as an adaptation of the 2013 game I found it rather lacking as they threw a lot of the plot out (in fact the only thing it has in common are names and a few action scenes are largely ripped from the game) and with it a lot of the characters, including Sam, Jonah, Roth, actually everyone from the Endurance crew, which does appear but is now crewed by just one new character. Some elements from Rise of the Tomb Raider do appear, but I'm not sure how adapting that game for a sequel would turn out based on the approach taken by this film as the biggest change is that they removed every single supernatural element from the story... while at the same time going to lengths to make it clear that Trinity is involved in the supernatural. Weird way to go, IMO. I get that video game movies have to make changes, but a lot of this just didn't make sense. They may as well have written and marketed it as an original story rather than anything to do with the 2013 game.

Not the most original or best western ever made, but enjoyable if you like the genre.

Wears it's Alien influence on its sleeve, but altogether decent.
