Yeah the sequels are pretty awful and US-centric action movies (cold war, Russians are evil type movies), while this one actually has a great message and great acting from Stallone. I´ve always loved it.

Not near as cool as this poster makes it look. It's a bit of a confused mix of The Stand, Lord Of The Flies with guns, and a very English Mad Max. There are some genuinely good combat/fight scenes, and a couple of excellent bit part characters (an unhinged, naked doctor), but it's ultimately a bit dull. I didn't know what to expect here, other than a bit of Coen weirdness. It has that in bucket loads. Would not be in a hurry to watch this again. Just really not my thing.

Yeah, I'm not going to spoil the effect by watching the sequels.

This was alright. A standard murder mystery but set at the height of the London Blitz. Tobe Hooper gave the world a number of horror treats. This wasn't one of them. I don't completely understand what the fuck was going on, but it was alright. There were some good psychological and horror elements and how the protagonist's blindness was handled was quite well done (basically you see what she thinks things look like, including who she thinks she's speaking to), but this rather fell apart with the twist. She's supposed to be blind. Not deaf. Also the twist is about as textbook as they come. Yeah, there are definitely better blind person thriller's out there. This was entertaining enough, but certainly has hell of a lot of problems. Unexpectedly the very long run time wasn't an issue, but they went with some very predictable plot choices. And one cast member is entirely green screened in after shooting due to a last minute replacement, and it really stands out. An old childhood favourite (which is weird, given the fucking spiders, which are still fucking horrible). It's still pretty than the cheesy video game style sequel. Pretty solid. Feels a bit like they were trying to channel Guy Ritchie and didn't quite pull it off though. Got to love the irony of the ending though given the roles the two actors would go on to play.

Wow, powerful movie! Didn't realise it was Stanley Kubrick until after I'd watched it. And Kirk Douglas is amazing.

This is a great one. I'd like to see it again someday. This was one of the turning points for me in starting to appreciate Kubrick.

Pretty good thriller with Tom Cruise as an assassin and Jamie Foxx as his unlucky taxi driver trying to find some way out of the nightmare and put a stop to him. For some reason I was really struggling to remember much about this movie, which is odd because it's great, though I think I prefer the Stand Alone Complex continuity of Ghost in the Shell. Good, but also overhyped and thus very underwhelming. I don't think it's a re-watcher.

Going through some of my non-Ghibli anime for the second time. This is a really good one and certainly the most fucked up.

Well, you can't go too far wrong with ghost pirates... Enjoyable, but not essential.

Black comedy. Needed more doing and less talking IMO, since the dialogue wasn't always witty enough. Jessica Chastain is one of my favourite actresses but not even she could save this snoozefest. The second watch inevitably loses some of the wow factor, but this is still a really excellent anime movie and I want to see more of the director's work.
