 Not exactly a B-movie, but not an A-movie either... B+ I reckon. Danny Trejo is always fun, and here he teams up with Mickey Rourke for all sorts of devilish bloodthirsty Western fun.

 I only ever saw these years ago when they first came out on video, so thought I should rewatch to see if I felt as indifferent as I remembered. And it turns out the answer is yes. Yes, it's NZ scenery. Yes, my missus was housemaid for a lot of the stars of this movie and still won't tell me who except Viggo Mortensen which I figure out for myself. And yes, I still only rate it 3/5.

 A movie about a killer car tyre...  80 slasher with a twist. Also possibly the only movie with Bruce Campbell in it where he doesn't have the biggest chin.  Big dumb dinosaur shark movie. A lot of fun if you don't take it too seriously.

So, two vastly different movies this evening:
 I've never seen Brando in his prime, only in his later movies. Now I can see why he's so highly rated as an actor.
 This is absolutely brilliant. It would have been so easy to fuck it all up, but this movie absolutely nails it with the humour and the attention to detail in how it all looks. |
