His filmography is really diverse. I've only seen a small fraction of it, but he's tackled a lot of styles. He made a strange 'western' some years ago, Sukiyaki Western Django, oddly for a Japanese movie made directly into English, played like a traditional US western but seemingly set in some sort of hybrid US-Japan with weird storyteller scenes starring Quentin Tarantino. He was also responsible for 13 Assassins which may just be the best traditional Samurai film post-Akira Kurosawa. It's really surprising how little known some of his movies are considering how massive one likes Audition became.

Part two of six. Very solid western. Randolph Scott is growing on me with the last few of his westerns I've seen. Could take or leave the first ones I saw.

One the better movies I've found on this current subscription to Shudder. Really trippy shit with a heavy soundtrack that includes work from Electric Wizard and Isis.

Not as good as its reputation, in my opinion, but an enjoyable quirky film. The ending is gut-wrenching though.

Excellent set and great acting, but a boring and oft-repeated story, and a few scientific fuck ups (Moon gravity? How does it compare to Earth gravity? Why does it only apply when you go outside? And how do you see the Earth from the far side of the tidally locked Moon?)

would have been so much better if they played it straight instead of having a retarded plot twist

Saw this not long ago and I was very impressed with the special effects. It also made a great effort to stick to the original story.

Pretty good special effects for 1933. Also free on YouTube temporarily and well recommended in you want some vintage sci-fi horror. This film coincidentally puts me at just 100 more movies to go until my next major milestone of 2500 movies watched.
