That new Hail Spirit Noir is like cosmic gold dust. A surprising shift away from black metal that threw me on first listen but I've never heard anything else quite like it.

Just checked this out. Holy fucking smokes. This is a masterpiece! Maybe not metal enough for some but an outstanding mix of progressive space rock with heavy metal moments. These guys have become one of my all time favorite bands in the last few years. BRAVO!!! ClapClapClapClapClapClap

To be fair though they've never been completely metal. They just swapped the black for more prog and spaced up their psych side a whole lot more.

It's only been three years since their last album, but with most other folk bands I like changing their sound in recent years, it feels like it's been an eternity since I've heard something this good in this style! It's also more power metal than normal, thanks to the new clean vocalist, which probably helps it even more LOL

LOL. I'm feeling more metal than prog lately. Love that first Spock's Beard album. Most of their works are a bit uneven. Sometimes Neil Morse gets a little too sappy for his own good.
