just have a listening ritual with this band now, so im not fully knowledge able yet, but i am on the first album and it is defenitly in the more experimental side of sludge, but more on the avant garde metal and math rock side of things, after i have listened to all the albums im also gonna aplye them to Math rock section in PA; but i have to imerse myself in their music first, dounting task
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Caballero the first album is defenitly avant sludge metal (but i would recomend some own research and youtubing, since my knowledge is sparse i only got to know them for 1 hour ago by reading a interview with Brann Dailor, about his favourite currant drummer and this band came up...., they look really really really good Edited by Balthamel - 16 Oct 2011 at 5:40am |

I think Don Caballero sounds more like Math Rock, nothing too metal here. I mean, we wouldn't put Slint on MMA, and they're even louder and distorted than this.

Agree with this post here. Not enough metal elements for me.

If it's even metal, I'd be more inclined to put it in sludge than avant-garde

I can see why someone would want them in metal, but gain-y crunch =/= metal?
