Personally I always saw myself as a metalhead first and foremost no matter what else I listened to.
I listen to a healthy dose of prog, but something about calling myself a "prog head" doesn't sit right with me at all.
Kinda the whole, we know what a metalhead is, a punk is,a  goth is kinda thing.
But you walk out onto the street and say "I'm a proghead" and people are just gonna give you a blank stare and think you're some kind of weirdo

Personally, I've always hated the word 'proghead'. I like prog (I wouldn't have joined PA if I hadn't), but it is not the only kind of music I like. In the Eighties I was much more into new wave and metal than prog, and have never liked the idea of belonging to a sort of 'cult'.

BTW, great to see you here, Alex and SebastianHug! Hope you will stay with us.

I used to be a regular on PA up until 2006 then I moved on.

I was a big fan of the 70s Heavy Rock and Prog scene but never really took to the NWOBHM bands though have seen most live, including Leppard, Maiden and Saxon. Seen Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Angelwitch, AC/DC, Scorpions, Budgie and many more that escape me. I am not a big fan of modern metal but my daughter keeps me well informed and I am constantly exposed to the more commercial metal bands as my daughter has Kerrang on 24/7 on the TV. I do own a couple of Meshuggah cds and am a fan of Opeth.

Ivan is a big Iron Maiden fan, in case you didn't know... He was one of those who supported their addition to the site, and would have liked to see them in Prog-Metal. SurprisedWink?

Well, I guess I will enjoy here as well as PA
because thanks to Dream Theater, Tool, Opeth, Symphony X Riverside.( I also like many other progmetal bands like: Zero Hour, Hourglass, Never ending story, Pain Of salvation, ect.)
I became a metal fan but only classic metal bands like Iron Maiden, priest, Slayer ( I can only tolerate  a couple at a time.LOL) Don't blame me fellow I am a huge jazz/fusion fan.
I also like Megadeth and Metallica until The black Album.
However in the 80's I liked Van Halen, Motle crew and Accept and Def Lepard and I love Zeppelin, Sabbath and Purple.
The Site looks like PA but darker of course!
Darksideof progressive Rock?
