Though not everyone here (or anywhere) is really big on this genre, I think we ought to have a thread about metalcore here just because we have one on every other subgenre of metal.

I quite enjoy a bit of Metalcore, or NWOAHM as they used to call it.

Many different types, and borderline artists I guess, eg.
Lamb Of God, Hatebreed, Parkway Drive, BMTH, Shadows Fall, 5FDP, Chimaira

I know it gets a lot of stick from people who like things like Death, Black or Prog... but those get a lot of stick too. If a song sounds good to me, its a good song. So far I've liked a lot of metalcore songs, just like Stoner, Prog, Rock etc

Not a big fan, but I do occasionally stumble across bands that I really like. Between the Buried and Me and Born of Osiris are two bands that I especially love.

I have never identified Born of Osiris as a djent band and would really not like to even if the black guy from Animals as Leaders have played with them live.  Progressive is fitting as they could be labeled progressive deathcore. Wink

BoO is a progressive deathcore band while BtBaM is a progressive deathcore/metalcore/awesomecore band, but neither of them are djent.
But besides, a number of djent bands are based in Metalcore.

Ah, fair enough, I've not listened to them so couldn't judge, but I do half remember them being in lists of prog or djent bands, though there's no guarantee the list makers know the difference.

Even this site calls The Great Southern Trendkill a thrash metal album. I just can't agree on that one.

Trendkill is Pantera's thrashiest album, though.

And not to mention that groove metal is placed under thrash on MMA, which is why Pantera's stuff is there.

Ah, I suppose there is cross over there, like Chaos AD.
My brain keeps the two separate, so it seemed odd at first glance.

I generally think the sub genre bios/definitions are a good help to understanding why an artist is placed where it is. There are always going to be artists that are very difficult to place but for most artists I think the system works pretty well.

Yeah, looking back, Winds of Plague's symphonic w**ggercore was really painful.  I gave their latest album a 2.5 originally, but I reduced it since then.  Their third album actually showed large amounts of promise, but it's like they decided to throw it all away and go back to their terrible first two albums.

Their third album was their only awesome album they made:

I wasn't big into either of those songs, but I actually preferred the first video. I've been meaning to check those guys out.

I generally don't like most Metalcore, but Lamb of God are pretty good, I guess. (Not really a huge fan, but Ashes of the Wake is a pretty solid album).

I think that there is a lot of quite good metalcore out there, but, granted, the more different metalcore bands I check out, the more I think a lot of them sound alike, with many of them being quite boring.

No talk about As I Lay Dying? F-ing brilliant music, in my opinion. Or are they considered something else?

Demon Hunter is easily the best metal/death core band out there.

I've always thought they were rather death metal -y. Also proof that Christian metal bands don't equal shit.
My three favorite songs, of their first three albums.

^ that second vocalists style isn't one I've heard much in any metalcore band. I love it. That vocal style always make me think of some little hunched over, thin, scrawny creature with long fingernails. Sort of like Golem if he decided to become a vocalist in a metal band.

^ cover of Prong's Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck, and, ten times better.

I also wil add that I love their logo, a goat skull with a bullet hole. I wonder what that is about...
