My Little Pony: not depraved, just stunted

Although someone else raised a point that I never thought about: think about that scene in CMC logically: what the hell is the deal with the egg? Do they raid dragon nests? How many tests are they giving, is it supposed to be like the Kobayashi Maru? I would guess dragons have at least a slight magic resistance, but do mothers really willingly donate their unborn children to be subjected to the blasts of young unicorns?

Then Derpy couldn't diet either. It would make sense that dragons would be a royal thing since the only way we know of obtaining one would be through hatching one yourself to be admitted into Celestia's school of whatever

We've seen other delivery ponies so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume there is more than one pony delivering mail, but she could be.
