Does anyone else think the new Maiden is pretty dull an uninspired or is it just me?

Metal of the year so far. Chaotic nu-metalcore with some touches of drum and bass and even a hint of vaporwave.

Me too.

Anyway, I've been really impressed with the Smith/Kotzen album.

Loving the new Diskord album. Death metal is a clear front runner for me this year so far.

This is some pretty great blackened sludge.

Some new tech death I've been on recently.  For my taste, its a bit too excessive with the shredding in parts as I much prefer the more angular and dissonant side of tech death but it's undeniably an impressive release that I think a few here would enjoy greatly.

Those who like a bit of crossover thrash will probably enjoy Forever Fire by Honey (need adding here which I'll do later this week when I have more time).

It's excellent but only seems to be available on vinyl at the moment which is fine with me but don't fancy paying £32 shipping on top of the cost of the LP. If anyone comes across anywhere selling it at a more reasonable shipping cost I'd be interested to know.

^ I just received it on CD last week. Only had chance to play it a couple of times so far but pretty impressed with it.

The new one from Pharaoh is really good. Their first album since 2012. I knew it was coming but it kinda stuck up on me in the end.

I really liked the new Pestilence. It's good old grunty death metal, and has dropped almost all of the tech/prog traces of the Spheres era.

^ Oh great the whole album is released now, hadn't realised it was out yet. I did hear the first 2 track they released from it. I thought one was great, the other less so, but ok.

Not bad at all actually, going to spend some more time with it.

Glad you're enjoying Cryptosis. Thumbs Up
