I'll have to get it then, since it has gotten such good reviews...

I personally like it a lot more. I felt CdC, and even Monuments was altogether very similar sounding, and relied far too much on variations of a few 6/8 style riffs. The Collective branches out far more IMO.
Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

As usual...I am not good with the new music upkeep (I can barely handle my current collection!) but there a few albums I look forward to for this year.

Symph X's
Opeth's (which I am hoping is a bit different)

Sometime hopefully Aghora's next album will come out. According to the bassist (whos a real cool and responsive guy) they just need a new vocalist. This was like 2 years ago Cry

I did pick up Vintersorg's latest album, and have yet to give it a proper listen.
Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Testament. The real Big Four of thrash metal!

So far:
Sabbatrinity by Sabbat
Parasignosis by Mitochondrion
Omnivium by Obscura
Elysium by Stratovarius
Jordpuls by Vintersorg
777 - Sect(s) by Blut Aus Nord
and (non-metal) 226: Stationary If All Statistics Are Invariant Under a Shift in Time by Bull of Heaven

So far, none of them got five stars from me, but Parasignosis is probably the closest.  Maybe, I'll tip it over the edge whenever I get the actual CD.

Well lets hope so. I like their albums with Joutsen on vocals, but Im not a giant fan, so its not like Ill be standing outside the records store to purchase the album upon release or pre-order it, but Ill definitely check it out.

LOL

Yes they do.  Besides, that one is still longer than some band's full-lengths.

I haven't heard many albums from 2011, so the only one who comes to mind is Septic Flesh - The great Mass. A massive album. Amazing at a high volume.

Yes I'm pretty addicted to that album myself at the moment. Very powerful release.

Currently my top 5 stands at:

1. Factory of Dreams - Melotronical
2. Within temptation - The Unforgiving
3. Wolfchant - Call of the Black Winds
4. Obscura - Omnivium
5. Argus - Boldly Stride the Doomed

been maintaining a full list of everything heard and reviewed on my last.fm journal, getting a bit big now to keep copying it over so I'll just post the link: http://www.last.fm/user/adg211288/journal/2011/01/17/45wwtf_2011_-_album_ratings_and_check_out_list

Well to no surprise, Iconoclast rules my world.
I'll wait till the end to mull over my full list but I can already say that album will be a strong contender.
