I haven't heard many albums from 2011, so the only one who comes to mind is Septic Flesh - The great Mass. A massive album. Amazing at a high volume.

LOL

Yes they do.  Besides, that one is still longer than some band's full-lengths.

Well lets hope so. I like their albums with Joutsen on vocals, but Im not a giant fan, so its not like Ill be standing outside the records store to purchase the album upon release or pre-order it, but Ill definitely check it out.

Can we agree that Amorphis's new album will be awesome?

Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

So far:
Sabbatrinity by Sabbat
Parasignosis by Mitochondrion
Omnivium by Obscura
Elysium by Stratovarius
Jordpuls by Vintersorg
777 - Sect(s) by Blut Aus Nord
and (non-metal) 226: Stationary If All Statistics Are Invariant Under a Shift in Time by Bull of Heaven

So far, none of them got five stars from me, but Parasignosis is probably the closest.  Maybe, I'll tip it over the edge whenever I get the actual CD.

As usual...I am not good with the new music upkeep (I can barely handle my current collection!) but there a few albums I look forward to for this year.

Symph X's
Opeth's (which I am hoping is a bit different)

Sometime hopefully Aghora's next album will come out. According to the bassist (whos a real cool and responsive guy) they just need a new vocalist. This was like 2 years ago Cry

I did pick up Vintersorg's latest album, and have yet to give it a proper listen.
Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Testament. The real Big Four of thrash metal!

I personally like it a lot more. I felt CdC, and even Monuments was altogether very similar sounding, and relied far too much on variations of a few 6/8 style riffs. The Collective branches out far more IMO.

AWESOME stuff! Clap One of the best symphonic death metal albums I've heard in a while.

What he said!

I'll have to get it then, since it has gotten such good reviews...

Obscura's Omnivium can go right up there in the 5* section.

^ yes, it would be great to hear some neoclassical death again.

As for now I've fallen in love with "Epoch" (FEN) - it seems that everybody loves it - and "All we Destroy" (GRAYCEON). In the near future I want to check new Dead Eyed Sleeper(The first one is quite interesting) album and I'm curious about Septic Flesh "The Great Mass".

Yeah if they can come up with some decent decipherable growls Im pretty sure Ill be hooked too. One of the last decades most interesting death metal acts, thats for sure.

I really want to check out Moonsorrow's latest, (the title is very long and in Finnish so there's no way I'll ever remember it) but I noticed that they're a little overlooked here in MMA....

I just received Artistic Differences by Slaves to Fashion in the mail recently, and it's some really good prog metal, though kind of cliched. Also Mamiffer's Mare Decendrii is very good. It's kind of like Tangerine Dream when it gets mad. Tongue
