I recently completed my first watch of the directorial work of Quentin Tarantino. I know he has some other fans on MMA, so I thought I'd post this poll. I've left off his partially lost 1987 film My Best Friend's Birthday and just listed his feature films starting with Reservoir Dogs, plus Four Rooms.

While I am torn on my favourite between the two westerns and Inglourious Basterds, based on first views I lean toward The Hateful Eight. I know it often gets ranked lower by many, but it definitely made the most instant impression on me.

Also, take my List Challenge on his films (shameless self promotion), I post movie lists on there now to put the MMA name everywhere I can (even more shameless self promotion): https://www.listchallenges.com/quentin-tarantino-movies-as-they-are-ranked-on

My favorite is Inglourious Basterds, though The Hateful Eight, Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs aren't too far behind.

I got 7/11 on the list challenge. I haven't seen My Friends's Birthday, Four Rooms, Jackie Brown or Death Proof.

I´ve yet to watch, Death Proof, Four Rooms, The Hateful Eight and Django Unchained, but not matter what it´ll probably always be Pulp Fiction for me. It was different and groundbreaking when it was released, and it´s just a nostalgic journey to me every time I watch it, because of the time it was released in my life.

I'll go with the masses and vote Pulp Fiction. Unfortunately Terentino's style permeated his other flicks which i found to be too derivitive of his first. He was somewhat of a one trick pony stylistically speaking. Inglorious Bastards and Jackie Brown were cool though. It's been a while since i've watched any of these so would have to update my impressions as i usually completely change many years later.

Pulp Fiction for me too though there's so many great films there. Tarantino is probably my favourite director.

^ He's got a good case for my favourite too. It's between him, Martin Scorsese and Guillermo Del Toro for me.

The only ones I'd rule out being my favourite are Jackie Brown (excellent but not quite a Tarantino classic), Death Proof (also excellent, possibly even underrated, but again not quite a Tarantino classic) and Four Rooms, which doesn't even get a look in. The rest are all excellent films that have a claim, especially if you look at Kill Bill as one title. My first inclination though is to say Django Unchained.

Inglourious Basterds. Any movie which rewrites history that blatantly is OK by me.

^ I think the alternate history aspect helped with me liking that one so much. I don't usually care much for WWII films.

^You mean, Hitler didn't actually die in a movie theater that had been blown up? I would have never guessed LOL

But yeah, the way it took liberties with the history was genius.

I'd pretty much agree with that, though I've never actually seen Four Rooms. I must add it to my rental list.

I love Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Bastards, Kill Bill Vol.1, Reservoir Dogs and Django Unchained. However, Death Proof and Kill Bill Vol.2 weren't that good IMO. I've yet to watch the other films posted, though...

I'm not sure I follow. A director's style is what gives their work identity and Tarantino's is quite distinctive. If his later films did not have his signature style they'd probably come across as much more generic films of their respective genres and those genres give them identity from each other.

I had to think about this, but I'm gravitating toward Kill Bill the most, with the first half having an edge on the second.

Anyone seen Once Upon a Time in Hollywood yet? We don't get it here until next month but I expect I'll be waiting until the home release, when it will be an instant buy on blu-ray.

I'm seeing a very positive reception for it on RYM. It's got a long way to go before it has close to the same number of ratings as his earlier work but the current average places it as his best film since Pulp Fiction.

Me too, will order it on blu-ray asap. I expect we'll have to wait until at least the end of year if not even Feb/Mar time.

Most movies seem to only take a few months to move from the cinema to disc/download now. Does depend on the studio I guess. I know Captain Marvel entered cinema in March and was released on disc in mid-July. We might get Once Upon a Time in Hollywood by Xmas or hopefully early January. I'll be putting my pre-order in as soon as I see it on Amazon regardless.
