Hey there, I'm a PA member (shred4life!) that finally ported over here.  Metal was my shtick long before prog was.  Used to be a thrasher, moving more the way of doom/sludge, avant-garde metal, and the like lately.

Some of my tops lately include maudlin of the Well, Kayo Dot, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Baroness, Mastodon, Dystopia, Russian Circles, Isis, Agalloch

Couple years ago I was all about Megadeth, Testament, Exodus.  Never really dug Slayer.  Metallica had their moments.  Anthrax sucks Tongue

I've also gone through a folk-metal phase, the only thing from that I ever still listen to is Finntroll

I would listen to death metal if more of it sounded like Death and Morbid Angel.

so, uh

howdy

Welcome to MMA. Were happy that youve joined.

...and there are plenty of acts that sound in the vein of Death and especially Morbid Angel. Take a listen to Angelcorpse, Incantation and the first Immolation album. All sound in the vein of early Morbid Angel and this is the place to find themSmile.

Sup n00b?

Yes, much as I love prog, metal came first and I shall always be a metal head.
Even though prog, avant, and folk metal are all awesome I was also a thrasher at first. Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer (some) Anthrax (even less lol) Testament, Exodus, Overkill, Death Angel, Forbidden, it goes on....

I will admit, I used to like death metal  but not so much anymore. Death and Morbid Angel I will never grow tried of though.

Oh, and welcome Colin HeadbangerBeer

I should change my last name to something more Ukrainian sounding maybe.

It's funny. Way back when, I thought that, too. Then "Sound of White Noise" came out, and I loved it. But now, I prefer their old stuff from way back when (like "Among the Living", "Spreading the Disease", "State of Euphoria" and stuff like that.

Spreading the Disease is actually pretty good, I'll give you that.  Plus, it only cost me $6

Welcome. Smile

I'm honestly not too big on Anthrax either.  I definitely prefer the Bush-era over Belladonna though.
