I'm pretty sure he still wrote the songs, though, or at the very least this one, because even with him only playing bass, it 100% sounds like the kind of thing he'd come up with.

That sounds a bit different for them. Actually it didn't grab me so well on the first listen. The other three songs released so far were much stronger for me.

^ Hopefully worth the wait. I ordered the vinyl die hard version from Rise Above with bonus 7". A bit pricey though.

I'm put out by their record label change though; seems a bit iffy if Amazon is going to directly stock it and they're already saying it's only likely to ever be one pressing.
The P&P on the label's site to UK is almost as much as the disc again. I'd thought the days of Anubis Gate albums being hard to get were done.

I remember being a bit bored by their last one, so hopefully this is better. The single sounds great, so hopefully that's indicative of the overall quality of the album.

As much as I want it I don't want to be shelling out around £25 for a CD inc the postage. No way does it cost that much to ship. It's just a way of upping the price of the CD. think I'll wait and see if Amazon UK list it.

I ordered another CD with mine. Same P&P rate. Made it a little more economical.

Simone Simons solo album and it's in collaboration with Arjen Lucassen? Sold.
Video doesn't premier on YouTube for another seven hours yet, but you can hear the song on Spotify already.

Even after several listens I'm still not entirely sure what to make of it. Honestly, it feels less like her doing a solo porject, and more like Arjen just wrote an Ayreon track and threw heer voice over top of it. Obviously, it's good, but yeah, it doesn't really standout from his normal stuff, enough to be considered someone else's solo album, but I guess I'll wait and see what the whole album is like.

I think I read somewhere last night that this is supposed to be the track that most sounds like Ayreon or Epica, so maybe there's other sounds going to be heard yet. There's certainly a lot more electronic sounds in this than I'd typically expect from either.
To be honest with you, I thought Arjen's last album as Supersonic Revolution felt a bit too much by the numbers and apart from some seventies hard rock nods felt very much like an Ayreon album with one singer. Even the last Star One album felt more like Ayreon than Star One to me. I loved it, and of course Star One was never that far removed sound wise from Ayreon but I felt the moving away from the core four singers set-up just pushed Revel in Time that much closer to being Ayreon by another name. He also has his new 'old' project Plan Nine out next week which sounds like it's going to be straight up hard rock/heavy metal which is a bit of a change of pace. But I haven't been wowed by a new Arjen album because it was different since The Gentle Storm. Golden Age of Music was the first Arjen album I didn't buy since I started listening to him.
