Apparently this was his first leading role. I also didn't realise it was him until halfway through the movie.

The 1988 remake is quite dire. The special effects don't seem 30 years better, and the acting is worse, except for Kevin Dillon, who just looked way out of place because he was in a different league to the rest of the cast.

A Fritz Lang I hadn't seen before. Unfortunately the genre is outside of his usual wheelhouse and was far from his best movies.

This on the other hand was very good!

Finally one re-watch from my Argento blu-rays:

I was intended to re-watch the Argento's I'd already seen in release order but I mixed up the dates of this and Suspiria and already did that one a little while ago. Next steps Inferno, Tenebre and Phenomena before watching Opera for the first time off of Prime. After that I'll start going through the Mario Bava's again.

I wrote 'sequel' in 'quotes' for a reason. It's very loose. Basically a time traveller jumps ahead in time, brings back Robby the Robot and the film goes from there with nothing else to do with Forbidden Planet. I would not recommend bothering with it.

I didn't even know Forbidden Planet had a sequel.

I got this on DVD years ago out of the bargain bin. I really hope Vincent Price sacked his hair dresser...

^ I assume spoilers are okay here, so what I meant was that it was basically a crime movie in disguise all along.

In a good or bad way?

I watched the Rifftrax of this which was funny, but I think it's a pretty good movie in it's own right.

Not exactly as expected.

Sci-fi horror meets home invasion thriller. Often genuinely disturbing.

Yeah it's pretty good. Obviously dated in 2020, but highly enjoyable still and what they achieved back then can definitely be appreciated.

I now also know where Fallout's Protectrons came from. LOL

Plus the meaning of a line in Mass Effect that I always wondered about yet somehow never googled. Monsters from the id.

There's Lynch and then there's Lynch. This is Lynch. Couldn't make fucking head or tail of it. I mean I guess I couldn't really with Mulholland Drive either, but I at least enjoyed that movie all the same. This one I could do without. Some may call this artistic and a masterpiece. I call it arty-farty and a load of crap.

It didn't disappoint. Really disturbing movie.

I saw that at about age 9. I have never been scared by a horror movie since.

There's no way my parents would have let me watch this at age 9.

My father fell asleep in front of the TV. He wouldn't have normally let me watch it either!LOL

Love this movie! Need to give it a rewatch.

Yeah I liked this one a lot.

Old monster movies are an area I've avoided until recently but I'm finding some gems now I've started to explore.
