Created with the hope of creating a band that would get you stoned with a sick oldschool death metal sound. It shows that the band was able to improve tremendously since the release of the highly acclaimed and fantastic debut album. The Norwegians riff enthusiastically over the entire album without showing any signs of slowing down. It's quite the opposite, the listener feels the love and the excitement of the musicians in each and every second. Svolk's Stoner Metal can be described as an explosive and dirty mix of Stoner Rock, Metal, Danzig and Iron Maiden. "Nights under the Round Table" has huge potential to be embraced by Die Hard Metal fans and 70's worshippers and Stoner Rockers alike. BUNKER 66/BARBARIAN - SPLIT LP Split lp between 2 great Italian doom metal bands. LP comes with a 2-sided poster. One could say those bands were due to one day share a split in the first place. Lets face it, BUNKER66 and BARBARIAN have more in common than most: both bands are Italians, both are power-trios whose music is rooted in the 80s heavy/thrash scene, both have been officially endorsed by Fenriz from DARKTHRONE in his band of the week blog andboth bands have had releases on DOOMENTIA before. Oh yeah and born under the sign of the black mark, they both have the kind of fuck off attitude that would make any emo fans weep! So this partnering wasnt simply due to happen, it HAD to become reality. So there you go, 25 minutes of glorious black/thrash/punk and whatever for all those warriors to headbang to until you bleed. A glorious throwback to CELTIC FROST and VENOM (BARBARIAN) but also DISCHARGE, BULLDOZER and SODOM (BUNKER66) performed and produced the way it always should be! And to make the whole thing even more special, as an extra, both acts are paying tribute to their elders. While BUNKER66 have resurrected from the grave "Psychopharmax Convulsions" originally committed to tape by the obscure Italian hardcore band CONVULSED waaaaay back in 1988 and blasted here in less than 53 seconds, BARBARIAN have chosen "Murder Angels" by the legendary DEATH SS, originally released in 1981 on "Horned god of the witches demo". BONGRIPPER - THE GREAT BARRIER REEFER (2LP) For the first time Bongripper's debut release "The Great Barrier Reefer" will be available on 2LP through Emetic Records. The 80 minute long track was initially recorded in 2005 and released only in extremely small CDr editions. The album is remastered by Dennis Pleckham and new artwork from Mike Miller who also did the art on "Satan Worshipping Doom". WITCHCRAFT - LEGEND (2LP) When Magnus Pelander founded WITCHCRAFT back in the year 2000, he just did so to record PENTAGRAM tribute album. It took until 2002 when the band finally released a first single. With their follow-up albums "Witchcraft" (2004), "Firewood" (2005) and "The Alchemist" (2007) they manifested their distinctive signature sound that is now known as Swedens finest psychedelic/classic rock band. Enter 2012, the band has found a new home with Nuclear Blast records and will put out their first album in five years. Originally being both a guitarist and singer, Pelander chose to focus on his unique vocals only from now on. The album features songs like "Killing Time", "Nothing to say" and "Keep breathing" and must rate as an overlooked gem in the work of the band (although not quite on par with the classic first three albums). Shortly after the release of the album, singer Eric A.K. temporarily left Flotsam & Jetsam to be replaced by James Rivera. PAIN OF SALVATION - THE PERFECT ELEMENT I (2LP) The Perfect Element, Part I is Pain of Salvation's third studio album, originally released in October 2000. TOWNSEND, DEVIN - TERRIA (2LP) On 180 gram vinyl and coming in a gatefold sleeve. Terria has been described as "melodic and atmospheric", with elements of pop and ambience alongside Townsend's trademark heaviness. Terria features musical themes explored in Townsend's previous albums, such as Ocean Machine: Biomech. However, it is more restrained, "using silence as part of the music". While playing with Tantalos, Skylla, Ballantinez and later Calderone (or assiah for that matter), he also developed numerous side projects. One of them was Black Burn (another one was called Crypt who eventually turned into Calderone). And, given the right timing and the right support, Black Burn could have been huge! One listen to "Necrophile" (1984), "Skylla", "Dr. Vollin", "Priest of Dread", "The World is an immeasurable War" (all from 1985) and the tribute "Black Burn" (recorded posthumously in 1999) and you get an instant feeling of Black Burn's uniqueness. |

New in stock: UFOMAMMUT, Italian sorcerers of supernatural and obliterating doom, have completed their sixth full-length, and first as part of the Neurot Recordings family. "Oro" is the title for UFOMAMMUT's latest work, divided into ten massive movements overall, delivered in two separate pieces. The first chapter, Opus Primum, saw arrival in April, and the second, Opus Alter, now in September. As with all previous UFOMAMMUT albums, the concepts behind Oro are expansive and multi-faceted, mutating the Italian palindrome which translates to "gold" with the Latin translation of "I prey." Oro explores the concept of knowledge and its power; the magical stream controlled by the human mind to gain control of every single particle of the world surrounding us. Oro is the alchemical process to transform the human fears into pure essence; into Gold. Although Oro's two chapters will be released months apart from each other, they must be considered as a single track in which the musical themes and the sounds appear and reappear, mutate and evolve, progressively culminating in the crushing final movement. Oro is an alchemic laboratory in which substances are flowing, dividing and blending themselves in ten increments from the alembics and stills, culminating into the creation of Gold. The vinyl versions of both chapters will be handled directly by Malleus's own label Supernatural Cat Records, who were responsible for the release of all of the band's previous material. This is the third album in a row the band recorded with Lorenzo Stecconi. The band are also in the process of crafting a full video/visual version of Oro which will accompany the audio.  |

ABOMINATION - DEMOS A collection of demo's from the late '80s by a Master related outfit. Comes with gatefold sleeve (printed on the rough reverse side of the cardboard), A2 size poster and insert. AMAROK/PYRAMIDO - SPLIT On black vinyl and comes with a great varnish sleeve cover, a black & white poster and an inner sheet with lyrics. PYRAMIDO spells 'HEAVY'. The band plays seriously demented psychedelic-doom in the vein of Grief, Electric Wizard and Noothgrush. Their sound is doomy, sludgy, crusty, stoner-esque, and while their music is laced with generics, there is also something extremely well calculated about their brand of doomy sludge. Here there is less of the Electric Wizard and more the Eyehategod, Goatsblood, Iron Monkey, and early High On Fire style coming through, there's even some hardcore. One could say it's out goes the doom, in comes pure crusty, dry- retching, abrasive sludge. AMAROK stands for AMAZING doom. Dark, brooding, heavy and intense. Tese members of THE MAKAI lay down fucking lava-esque doom with noisy harmonies and triple vocals. They mix Khanate-like drone doom with modern atmospheric doom, kinda like Thou. ARKHAMIN KIRJASTO - TORCHES ABLAZE The debut full length album from CIRCLE's bassman Jussi Lehtisalo's metal band Arkhamin Kirjasto. "Here's something interesting and definitely different for a change. This is a diverse-sounding record, that combines old-school death metal � la AUTOPSY, NIHILIST and FURBOWL with some IRON MAIDEN-esque melodies, grooviness of the likes of ANGEL WITCH and early BLACK SABBATH. Added for good measure are small doses of psychedelia and progressiveness (� la VOIVOD). So one could say there's a kinda mixed musical package here, which, however, seems to work pretty darn amazingly well. It's definitely a breath of fresh air, pretty much reminding of those times when XYSMA recorded their second album, 'First & Magical', and when the Swedish FURBOWL entered the studio to record 'The Autumn Years' in autumn 1993. A mixed soup like this does surprise its listeners every time when it's meant to come right behind the nearest corner towards you - and that's always something that overall is so great about music, when that surprise factor is involved with it. The guys' groovily rockin' mish-mash of death metal, heavy rock, NWOBHM, and weed-reeking psychedelia, ain't something that can be completely ignored. No, this stuff is meant to haunt and catch you eventually, like it or not". Raids or Hellkommander were the only true heirs to Hellhammer and Celtic Frost throne didn't you know?! Surely, formed in 2009, Florence's Barbarian also namechecked Running Wild or early Bathory as one of their main influences but come on, as soon as the first notes of "Serve In Heaven, Reign In Hell" hit you off and Borys Crossburn let's go his first ugh! of the day, you know what the score is and as Tom G. Warrior would have said himself, the usurper's tears surely guide their sword. Just look up at each of those three Italians role in the band: necroharmonic guitarmageddon and invocations of Baltic storms and Polish metal albums, eruptions of evil from cracked earth and fuck off bombardment. Indeed, only 1984 is real!!! This first set of six morbid tales was recorded by this trio in the classic sense of the word and originally released as a self-titled demo tape last year after eight months of intense rehearsal in only 99 copies. Now re-released on a glorious and lavish LP version in the classic Doomentia tradition, this monstrous debut has finally all the means required to crush all the posers. And with songs like the doomier yet as morbid "Ad Mortem Festinamus" or the rock'n'roll rumblings of "The Hammer And The Anvil" showcasing another side of their necromantical art and thus proving that Barbarian are more than just a tribute band in disguise, you know that this is just the beginning. DOOMDOGS - UNLEASH THE TRUTH (2LP) MOTOR-DOOM WITH THE STONER-ENGINE ON OVERDRIVE Okay, track number two starts off with beautifully dated mellotron waves, so for a brief moment one may almost suspect our doomed brothers from Gothenburg Sweden to have dropped their doom/stoner pants and leave behind the heaviness and sheer LOUDness of their debut released eighteen months ago on DOOMENTIA..... But NO, not only have the mighty Dogs lost none of their earth-shattering grooves and Iommi sponsored riffing wizardry, but as it turns out ,Unleash The Truth" will show all the naysayers that theres way more to be found underneath those gritty rockers sweat than just another Sabbath worshipping band. True, they did record a cover of their heroes for this second full-length, but instead of the obvious choice -"what about an umpteenth version of War Pigs for instance?" - they went for the lesser known "A National Acrobat" (off Sabbath Bloody Sabbath) whose crossover nature proves quite a template for them to follow. Because even though this new Doomdogs album was recorded on 24 track 2 inche tape in the same analogue-only studio as their self-titled debut and still embraces stoner, metal and sludge - it now adds loans from good ol boogie blues stompin rocknroll as well as retro prog! The earth-crushing intro of the track "Welcome To The Future" alone will knock your socks off! So this thirteen tracks and 65+ minutes monster is like a turbocharged version of SPIRITUAL BEGGARS (before they turned into ,Mike Amotts little vanity project") mixed with KING CRIMSONs most pastoral moments and CROWBAR when in full 70s rock mode. Doesnt make sense? Believe us, it sure will the moment you hear ,Unleash The Truth" for the first time. Need some more convincing? what about Victor Griffin then ? PENTAGRAM and PLACE OF SKULLS already immortal six-stringer whose extensive soloing on the aforementioned Sabbath rendition makes it even more perfect to conclude the incredible ride that is, Unleash The Truth". So get ready... cause the mighty Dogs are back.... unleashed and hungry for more! EARTHRIDE - SOMETHING WICKED (2LP) Something Wicked is definitely an Earthride album; all the elements are there. You've got the Clutch inspired waves of Orange amplified riffage, the deep, grooving counterpoints of the rhythm section, and of course Sherman's over-the-top vocal deliveries, which mix equal parts Lee Dorrian and Lemmy. And naturally, it's heavy as fuck. If you liked the last two albums, there's not much to complain about here, these songs drip and ooze with that particular Maryland Doom flavour." HEAVEN & HELL - THE DEVIL YOU KNOW (2LP) Heavy metal icons Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice are set to release a brand new album - their first under the moniker HEAVEN & HELL, with Black Sabbath's last studio album having been 17 YEARS AGO. Titled The Devil You Know, this is an event for every classic rock and metal fan to get excited about! After finishing several heralded world tours as Heaven & Hell last summer, the influential band were tighter than ever before, both musically and personally. Agreeing that it would be a shame to stop making music together at tours end, the quartet began writing, first in England at Iommi's home studio and later in Los Angeles at Dio's studio. "The band had gotten too good to just walk away," Dio says. "We wanted to show people that we were still capable of giving them new music that measured up to what wed done in the past." With that goal in mind, the band once again converged on Rockfield Studios in Wales last winter, the same place they used 17 years earlier to record their last album, Dehumanizer. The result is the long awaited new album The Devil You Know, featuring 10 soon-to-be-classic tracks from the Dio-fronted version of Black Sabbath. Bible Black, the epic first single, begins with Iommi on acoustic guitar behind Dio's plaintive wail before the rhythm shifts to a menacing stomp for the rest of this dark tale about a book of sinister scriptures. One of the first songs written for the album, Dio says it established a tone for the rest of the album. "When you start off with a blockbuster like that, it makes the rest of the album so much easier because it gives you a benchmark to measure the other songs against." Iommi proves he hasnt lost the ability to inspire six-string envy, unleashing riffs like a pack of rabid hellhounds on Atom And Evil, Fear, Neverwhere, and Eating The Cannibals, a tune about doing more than biting the hand that feeds. Butler and Appice slow the pace while ramping up the intensity on Follow The Tears and Double The Pain and Breaking Into Heaven, the latter diverging from its glacial procession for Dio's majestic chorus about fallen angels planning an attack on paradise. HOODED MENACE - NEVER CROSS THE DEAD (2LP) 2nd pressing of this masterpiece specially remastered for vinyl for the best sound quality on black wax. HORN OF THE RHINO - GRENGUS (2LP) Double lp set housed in 425gms carton gatefold sleeve with pinted innersleeves on 220 gsm board. Not that many band cite as influences BOLT THROWER, AUTOPSY and WINO or SOUNDGARDEN. Then again, not that many bands sound like Bilbaos HORN OF THE RHINO. If in 2010 their first album Weight Of Coronation on Doomentia Records proved to be slippery case - that is an album that denies any form of categorization, apart maybe from being filed under the fucking heavy tag - its follow-up will undoubtedly see even more people scratching their heads, that is if they manage to survive this insanely powerful barrage of riffs. A far more heavier and meaner affair than their previous offering, the subject matters of this fourth full-length alone should easily tip those who will dare stepping in that Grengus is no nice walk in the park with songtitles like "Piles Of Severed Heads", "Waste For Ghouls" or "Awaken Horror Of Tuul". Once again, youll find here a collusion of sludge, doom and heavy fuckin metal but with the band own twist. Then again, its never totally devoid of melody somehow, with guitar player and frontman Javier G�lvez unmistakable voice still be the most valuable weapon in their armoury as hes more than ever able to rasp in a demonic voice one second and sing in a soothing yet desperate way the next. HORN OF THE RHINO - WEIGHT OF CORONATION (2LP) Have you ever listened to an album, and an image pops into your head of one of your friends? This is what happened to me when I popped in Spanish doomsters Horn Of The Rhino. Immediately, an image is conjured up of my mate, horrendously pissed, dancing to St. Vitus with an arse hanging out and his patched sleeveless denim jacket stretched tight across his shoulders and he waves his arms in the air. From this rather robust image, this is a band that likes their drinks strong and their guitars loud. Very loud. INCOMING CEREBRAL OVERDRIVE - LE STELLE: A VOYAGE ADRIFT Born at the dawn of the new millennium in Italy, I.C.O. (Incoming Cerebral Overdrive) are heavy to the core. The end of the first decade of the new millennium marks a new step in the evolution of the band. The title of the new chapter is: "Le Stelle: A Voyage Adrift". The concept, an imaginary, dark and lonely trip adrift discovered in a diary. Emotions of fear, anger and irrational excitement are expressed, waiting for a certain epilogue into desolation, a final annihilation in a cosmic fusion. Sonically, this new album is a journey that intersects and expands in a huge, deep and at times, claustrophobic monolith. Heavy cavernous guitars with back-breaking riffs, multifaceted, effect laden vocals and rhythmic notes plunge into a psychedelic mix of unpredictable sounds of distress and madness that we, the recipient, can only succumb to. After all, those self-proclaimed kings of raw hardcore splatter-thrash punk have never been beating around the bush regarding the bands they've been influenced by from day one back in 2006 when they got together after what must have been one of the biggest binge party even known to mankind! When youve put to tape a raging WEHRMACHT cover ("Drink Beer Be Free"), have shared splits with CHILDREN OF TECHNOLOGY or BARBATOS and have a logo which is an obvious tribute to the one used by the mighty ACCD for the last twenty-five years or so, lets say the writing is on the wall. So there you go, you do now know the score: raging thrash/speedcore the 80s way, full of two minutes blast, stupid lyrics about getting fucked up and the kind of insane mosh parts that even your senile grandma wont be able to resist. Something a bit on the same wave-length as label mates LAHAR and as rooted in the old-school way of doing things but with a punk, much less serious but with lets get fucked-up type of attitude! So yeah, recorded last winter, clocking at just under half an hour (perfect timing for this kind of spontaneous and bursting style) and also released on CD by FOAD Records, Distorted Pictures From A Distorted Reality doesnt fuck around and goes straight into the pit. So what are you waiting for to join the party damn it??? MOLLY HATCHET - DEVIL'S CANYON (2LP) SPV label. MOLLY HATCHET - SILENT REIGN OF HEROES (2LP) This album was recorded in 1998 in Hamburg, Germany with producer/guitarist Bobby Ingram and is kept the same spirit and tradition as the past albums. This album is as heavy as southern rock can get, and it's full of great songs too. MOONLESS - CALLING ALL DEMONS (BLACK) There's worse places to start, than to play your debut show opening for Japanese serial-killer obsessed CHURCH OF MISERY. Then again, since MOONLESS also later on did gigs with SAINT VITUS, PENTAGRAM and UFOMAMMUT and are about to unleash their brilliant debut on DOOMENTIA, one could say this was just a beginning. The band started in Copenhagen, Denmark back in 2008 by people who cut their teeth in the local punkscene throughout the 00s in bands such as No Hope For The Kids, Hjertestop, Amdi Petersens Arm and Village Idiot. People in the know will acknowledge these were important bands helping to put Denmark back on the international map of underground music. After releasing a demo on vinyl (Born Burned Out) in really limited quantity, the band went in the studio to record the debutalbum Calling All Demons in September 2010. The album was recorded on a small Danish island called Sams, in the backroom of an Austin veteran cars museum, if you can believe, in only three days. Musically lying somewhere inbetweenuite young outfit really makes a difference by having perfectly nailed the ability to write great songs. Underneath the Tony Iommi-styled riffing, thunderous drums and fuzzy bass lines, lies choruses and real catchy hooks that will stick in your cranium for the rest of the month once youve heard them. Its hard to tell if those so-called new wave of US thrash-metal has ever been a reality or just one those journos wild fantasy but if such thing would have ever existed, youd probably find VINDICATOR at the top of the list. Then again, when youre being stranded somewhere in the Cleveland area, Ohio as the Stown brothers Vic (guitar, vocals) and Jesse (drums) were, in the end you have no choice but to follow the rest of the herd. Or simply go for the kill. And they did, as early as in 2005 when real thrash seemed like a thing of the past, only to be revered by thirty years plus old metalheads with tears in their eyes. That such a killer debut as There Will Be Blood had to be self-released due to a total lack of interest from potential labels back in 2008 almost seems like heresy now but its not even like the band themselves cared much. As a matter of fact, as if striving from being free from any outside pressure or hype, they simply set out to release a straight, balls-to-the-walls, no-frills-and-no-bullshit-allowed METAL album. Sitting comfortably somewhere between early MEGADETH tainted with the evil approach of SLAYER and the typically German fury of SODOM, the beauty of this raging little fucker is that it doesnt even pretend to step forward unmasked. Granted with one of the most literate cover out there, full of songtitles alone that just dont beat around the bush and tell you straight what the score is ("Pain And Suffering", "Shrapnel" or "Thrash And Destroy" just to name a few) and even rougher and rawer than its sophomore The Antique Witcheries released two years later, There Will Be Blood shows no mercy. Now re-released on LP with the usual high DOOMENTIA standards, this is once again the time to raise the flag of hate and re-launch the infernal overkill. |

"Based On Evil" is the debut album of the Scandinavian Thrash Metal band Tantara, with headquarters in Norway. The album has songs from the EP "Human Mutation", which the band released independently in 2010. One of these names was the legendary sound engineer and producer Flemming Rasmussen, and he was one of the first to answer back to the band. The band chose Flemming because of his background with big names like Rainbow, Metallica, Blind Guardian, Morbid Angel, etc., including that he had a good offer and knew how the production of the music should sound. The album was recorded during four weeks in July 2011, in ARK Recording Studios and Sweet Silence Mix Suite, both in Copenhagen, Denmark. "Based On Evil" has fast riffs, aggressive vocal and drum performances, melodic and virtuosic solos, and the band do also have some progressive elements in the songs as well. Although the songs are longer than what people are used to in the genre, the band still makes the listener interested during the whole album. Apart from the music, a lot of the originality is in the lyrics. "Based On Evil" is a concept album where the lyrics are critical of society. The lyrics can be linked to events that are happening now, and have happened in the past. Still, the lyrics are open, so its up to the listeners to interpret how they want. With "Based On Evil", Tantara shows the world that there are still lots of undone things in the genre, and like Flemming said himself in an interview: "It's gonna be great. Its an old school Thrash album, with everything played as it should be. No sampling and editing but almost live." The four songs on their "Open your Eyes" 12" are just so good musically that it is hard to overlook the sheer quality of this rather obscure outfit from the Merseyside area. Speaking strictly in musical terms, "Open your Eyes", "Something on my Mind", "Cold Horizon" and "Midnight Train" are brilliant Heavy Metal songs with a very strong production. In 2009, the debut EP "Out of the Bunker" was recorded. It received great feedback from the inner circle of the punk and metal underground. Initially it was self-released in a limited edition of 100 copies only, but Reinig Records from San Francisco re-mastered and re-released it on vinyl with a new cover artwork. Winterfylleth have done just this. While there are some superb British bands within the sphere, be it the inner-city filth of Anaal Nathrakh or the gothic Romanticism of early Cradle Of Filth, British black metal does not have the best of names. It is difficult to imagine what more a single record could do to try and change that- this is a staggering opus of the highest accomplishment. Irrespective of whether you share in these feelings, the music is overwhelmingly powerful. Beautiful and foul, vicious and gentle, rooted in the classic blueprint yet not afraid to go beyond that, The Mercian Sphere is a breathtaking achievement.

This understated innovator recruited the help of his band mates, PENTAGRAM co-founders Geof O'Keefe (drums) and Bobby Liebling (vocals) as well as schoolmate Mike Matthews (bass). Throughout the 1970s, the band recorded numerous sinister, doom-drenched slabs of metallic gold - Black Sabbath were Palmer's idols - that illegally floated around on sub-standard bootlegs for decades. Finally, in 2004 to much fanfare, these rough, never-intended-for-public recordings were collected, repaired and released as Child of Darkness: From the Original Master Tapes. The first sign of their music saw the light during spring 2010 in the shape of a 5-track demo. Well received by the audience we managed to get some gigs in the area of where they are based. One of them as warm up act for a sold out show with danish D.A.D. with 700 people attending. Quite a good start. After several gigs they built up a strong reputation and a finance to make their first full-length album. The album saw the light 2012 and was spread well in the swedish (and european) rock'n'roll scene. With a strong album as a foundation they finally passed the borders to Gemany and Holland and managed to sign up new members to the union. The Horsehead Union is a well-oiled machinery that won't stop for anything... An occult rock trio consisiting of two ladies and a guy. Apart from many metal influences there also are clear traces of UK '80s goth/post punk bands, incl. Southern Death Cult, Siouxsie & The Banshees and March Violets. This LP version includes a vinyl-only bonus cover of The Cure's 'The Drowning Man'.  Ravens Creed are an English mythical death/thrash band with strong Venom/Celtic Frost/Exodus/Slayer influences, formed in late 2006 by Steve Watson and Jay Graham. An ultra intense offering from the Southern Californian group, combining the heaviness of doom and sludge with the aggression of metalcore and hardcore punk.
