A couple of BM recommendation, I'll give samples for each band. I couldn't find them give the search so I apologies if any of them are already here.
Nahvalr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSs2C4WMcaU. Sun of the Blind http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540281814 New side project from Zhaaral of Darkspace. Locrian http://blog.kexp.org/blog/2010/03/12/agitated-atmosphere-locrian-territories/ Sample is halfway down the review. Sex Drome (could not get the metal-archive link work, but here is their myspace) http://www.myspace.com/sexdrome Pretty similar sound to Bone Awl, raw punk black metal. |

Now added Sun of the Blind and Sexdrome. SofB is waiting for MusicBrainz sync. Sexdrome itself seems to consider their music as punk, but everywhere else (reviews, Metal Archives, Last.fm) it has the black metal tag and I would agree with that, so I added them here. This kind of bands (Bone Awl, Furdidurke, Garrotte etc) can often be on the borderline of black metal but I think that Sexdrome is a worthy addition.
Going to give Nahlvalr and Locrian a proper listen later today. The latter seems to be always referred to drone, noise etc but according to the sample song it does have black metal there. I'm going to listen to the whole album (also because it sounded good haha!). Edit: These are going to be discussed in special collaborator zone. :-) Edited by Vehemency - 26 Apr 2010 at 4:41am |

Thanks for your time.
I'm rather interested in bands that blur the lines between genres and 'tis one of the reasons I find BM such an interesting sub-genre. Locrian for me, while often the metal sound is not always present I thought from a structural view point they were still heavily embedded in metal, but this might just be my point of view, I listen to a lot of noise and avant-garde music and this seemed like it had it foot in both parties. SO, either way I think they'd be of interest to people of both noise and metal backgrounds. Nahvalr is an interesting project brought to us from the guys of Have a Nice Life, it was an open ended project where anyone could submit snippets of noise, sound, into the band, then they collated all the information they found interesting and made an album. The guys have great song writing skill in the 'pop' arena and I think this is what saved the project from becoming just formless noise. Anyway, I've a wont to jabber on for too long, Edited by Murphy - 26 Apr 2010 at 12:03pm |

I added Nahvalr which is now waiting for MusicBrainz sync. For now I had to exclude Locrian because from my point of view the black metal elements were kind of too subtle so that it would have opened doors for many other noise projects. This is just my opinion, and the decision might change if we get more opinions (The T, another BM collaborator, is away for some time right now).
Feel free to suggest more bands whenever! |

No worries, I respect your opinion. There are many bands which are straddling the cusp between noise and BM; seems to be a popular avenue these days. So stuff like Brobdingnagian, Myself, Aderlating could be considered, but it is probably more inline with the site to get all the straight forward cases on before digressing too far with such debates, so I'll leave those types of suggestions for now. OK ;) Njiqahdda http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=109826 Sombres Forets http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=71518 Spectral Lore http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=68704 Drautran http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=4947 Dawnfall http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=5545 De Magla Veterum http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=32917 Aigro Mucifelam http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=96657 Smorzando http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=128035 Moon http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=122605 (I'm pretty sure there would be multiple entries for such a name) Nekrasov http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=108715 That's enough for the meantime. |

Good suggestions, I know most of them at least. :-) Will be adding some of those today!
Edit: Aigro Mucifelam, Dawnfall and De Magia Veterum added now (going alphabetical for some reason). Aigro and Dawnfall waiting for MusicBrainz sync, for De Magia I added the full-lengths manually. If you want you can add the other releases, otherwise I'll get back to it later. :-) Edited by Vehemency - 04 May 2010 at 1:43pm |

Thanks.
If I feel particularly zealous this evening I might add those albums. |

Anyone who hasn't head Alcest must do so now. Admittedly, his latest two albums contain very little black metal, but anyone who is interested in a little bm/crossover metal should check them out.
Highly recommended by me, especially Ecailles de Lune. |

Added finally (waiting for sync):
I won't hurry adding SMORZANDO yet, as it's a bit unclear to me what's the policy with bands that have "only" released demo(s). If a demo is of high importance then it's a sure add if you ask me, but I'll leave this band untouched for now. :-) Edited by Vehemency - 20 May 2010 at 5:03am |
