The eighties would've been a fun time to play as well. Thanks! We'll be trying to play live more as the pandemic dies down.
I've heard of Big Business, but never actually heard them before. I saw you mention them in another thread, and I have a couple of friends who have mentioned them as well. I'll give it a spin tonight.

I like it . I think it´s in some ways similar in style to Big Business: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/big-business/?ac=big%20business. Are you familiar with that band? If not, I can highly recommed especially their second album: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/big-business/here-come-the-waterworks

It's always something you can go back to. There's been times when I've thought about quitting and have done for a while a few times over the years but always get drawn back as I think the desire to play get's in your blood.

^ I only really got started late seventies so it was more the 80's when I really hit my stride and my most prolific era but it was a great decade to be in a metal band for sure.
Thanks for the link to your stuff. You guys should keep at it, you have quite an original sound.

Thanks for all the links! Nightfly's clearly been drumming a lot longer than I have. Getting to play in the 70s must've been a blast. I've only been playing since 2000. My current band's URL is https://somethingweirdmusic.bandcamp.com.
I like the Last Abide logo! Writing music is fun, but it's tough. It takes me a long time to write anything. It's good you've still got the itch to do it.

^Great to hear you´re still playing. I haven´t really played much since my kids were born, but I´ve slowly picked up the guitar again in the last couple of years. Just a little acoustic blues thing for practice, but I am itching a bit to write music again. Hopefully I´ll get the time and inspiration to do that again someday.

ha ha, yes, been doing it since the late seventies. There's plenty of stuff on Youtube and we'll be putting a Black Rose track out there off the new album very soon. I didn't realise you did either, that's great!

^Holy shit Paul I didn´t know you played music. I´ll have to check out your bands . I used to play (guitar and additional vocals) in a death metal band in the early- to mid nineties, but we only recorded a couple demos and then faded: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/last-abide/?ac=last%20abi My cousin painted the band logo, which became the sleeve for our 1995 demo tape. I still have a couple of cassette copies but I don´t have a cassette player anymore .

Yes check out these links. With Black Rose we have just finished a new album which will hopefully get released this year. It's been a long process with covid holding things up as you might expect. I'll be posting more info on this site soon. How about you, are you in a band at the moment?

Great to hear from all of you! Thanks! I'm not an expert on the genres by any means, but I do tend to like that stuff.
Nightfly, do you play with a group or record anything? Unitron, thanks for the links! I've heard Toner Low's II before. I liked it, but haven't heard anything about them in a while. Need to look into it.

Welcome! Here's some good lesser known albums you might want to check out: https://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/skin-yard/fist-sized-chunks (grunge, but with a strong doom vibe)

Welcome to MMA.
Big fan of stoner and sludge myself although I could do with more education on doom and always on the hunt for fresh listening. I've been big on Conan and Bongzilla these days. |

Howdy and welcome. I've had a lot of stoner and doom releases playing in the background recently as I've been going through potential sludge adds and love the genre/s. I still need to educate myself more on many of the bands though.
Enjoy your time with us

Welcome to MMA and please dig in (and let us know if you find omissions). I´m a fan of Electric Wizard myself, but I can´t claim to be an expert in stoner doom artists. I have an on going project updating all the doom metal profiles though, so going trough the subgenre I´ve found quite a few interesting artists, I´ve added to my "To listen to list".

I'm a drummer from Kentucky. I'm here to find some good music to listen to and post some links. I like doom metal, stoner metal, all that good stuff. Warhorse and Electric Wizard (original lineup) are my favorites. I'm relatively new here, so I've got a lot of digging to do. Thanks!
