1967/ 1976
This album (that is the debut album of Accept) start with "Lady Lou", probably my all time preferred Heavy Metal song.
Of course a band like Accept has a potential of only the absolute power that created our solar system!
If you search Feeling in Rock'n'Roll you have some bands that have Feeling in DNA. And one of these bands is Accept!
The music of Accept is, after all, only F****n' R'n'R (but I like it!)!
Hmmm... A lovely apple pie and a provocative woman... Hmm...
Because yes, "Seawinds"... A Hell of a ballad!!!
One moment... I can not ... I can't find the absolute truth with an album like this. With a debut album like this! Certainly "seawinds" is a pure tribute to Scorpions' ballads... and in 80's Scorpions wrote ballads that are tribute of "Seawinds" but it is true that songs as "lady Lou" or "Tired Of Me" are pure F****n' R'n'R in pure tradition of Heavy Metal songs: Direct, heavy, uncompromising, simple, full of feeling and bastards to the core!!! And not only because conceived by all the band members but also because fresh, innovative (in pure way of tradition) and aged in great manner! "Take Him In My Heart" is another 70's Scorpions style song but steeped charge Punk, yet so far from Motorhead and the like invaded because of something that smells like Wagner, Beethoven, Verdi!! And "Sounds Of War" is a pure Proto Thrash song but at the same time is a pure 70's Scorpions song with great Punk threatment that anticipates Grave Digger (Ok, but this song isn't Punk, Ok?). "Free Me Now" is pure Speed metal song and, yet, another pure 70's Scorpions song. Great guitars and Feeling (My God, my God, my God ... Because I'm having a heart attack?). "Glad To Be Alone" is a ballad that is a carbon copy of Wishbone Ash's "Warrior" but with more Rock flavour! (and another great Udo tour de force, another great guitars and writing). "That's Poker" Doyle Bronson asserts in "Poker After Dark" theme but for Udo, Peter, Wolf, Jorg and Frank this is Rock'n'Roll! And "That's Rock'n'Roll" is the basis of 99.9% of the Teutonic Thrash! (this song is a sort of devastating Speed Punk'n'Roll!). "Helldriver" is a sort of Wagnerian Rock with a Heavy super power and unconventional dedication to the destruction of everything that is contrary to the joy of living! "Street Fighter" remember (with a sorrow that brings me to suicide!) that "accept" is at the end and with an absolutely great timing this song is only a good ending song for a great album. That for me is a masterpiece.
In conclusion Accept isn't a seminal album. But a masterpiece, yes. With great humility pay tribute to the Scorpions (of course). Yet it is a very personal album. And,as aged too well, I've to classified it as masterpiece. And not only of Heavy Metal.
