Man Bites Dog is quite the disturbing and unpleasant watch. I guess Natural Born Killers was very influenced by that one.

There's Man Bites Dog which some people consider a horror.
There's also What We Do In Shadows and Wellington Paranormal (spin-off TV series) if you like a bit of a laugh with your horror.

Probably the most famous one is the 1922 silent Haxan, which is an actual docudrama. I've never seen it but would like to. There's also Ghostwatch, a somewhat infamous British TV movie from 1992, that I've also never seen. Totally faked mockumentary of course but they presented it as if it was all happening live. I think the only film I've seen that would really fit the idea of documentary style horror without actually being found footage horror is Lake Mungo. Which was better than most in that style but not really my thing. It may also be of interest though, if you don't know it. I don't think this is a widely explored genre to be honest. I do also know of an animated docudrama called Borley Rectory, which is about a place that's local to me, but I also haven't seen that and can't speak for its quality.

 More graboid goodness! This wasn't particularly well received when it came out, but I love it because it doesn't take itself too seriously. And Michael Gross' gun nut Burt Gummer is a brilliant character.

 Basically Hitchcock with the sleaze amped up. Quite a mindfuck of a movie beneath that though. Not de Palma's best but solid.  Very good quite unknown neo-noir movie. It's based on the first novel in a fairly long novel series, but this is the only one that ever made it to film and serves as an origin story for a black PI working in 1940s LA. The atmosphere to original noir movies is pretty much spot on, while also treading the kind of ground original noir would never have touched. A hidden gem. Re-watches:  One of Fritz Lang's most famous English language movies and remains one of the few movies I know of from the time period to still carry higher than a PG age restriction. Infamous for the scene where Lee Marvin disfigures Gloria Grahame by throwing hot coffee in her face, The Big Heat certainly pushed boundaries in the 1950s even if its violent scenes seem tame by modern standards, though I still jump like hell during the scene where Glenn Ford's car is blown up with dynamite.  A less well known noir but one I'm really quite fond of. It twists the genre a bit by having a female lead and using James Mason's character in the usual femme fatale role.

 Well this was a yawn from start to finish. I didn't realise til about halfway through that I'd actually seen it before. I can see why some people like it, and there's no doubting Brit Marling's talent as a writer and an actor, but I just got bored.
