Wonderfully tense. Very Hitchcockian. Recommended.

You put The Phantom Menace the highest of the prequels. I approve. I don't know if for you that means you like it or just dislike it less than the next two, but I still approve. I always saw the hate that movies gets as a childhood ruining experience. Because when that came out in 1999, that movie wasn't shit like many today say it is. It was the shit. We had this borrowed pirate VHS tape of it that my friend who lived around the corner from me had but was completely disinterested in. I watched the crap out of that tape even though the picture quality was shit.

The final film in the Star Wars franchise that I hadn't seen. I can now arrange them in order from best to worst: 1. A New Hope 2. Empire Strikes Back 3. Return of the Jedi 4. Rogue One 5. The Force Awakens 6. The Phantom Menace 7. The Last Jedi 8. Solo 9. Attack of the Clones 10. The Rise of Skywalker 11. Revenge of the Sith It's taken me 35 years to complete this set, since I first saw A New Hope in 1984.

I just had to watch this because of the title. Hilarious premise, but not quite as funny as the first few minutes promise. There's some pretty cheesy martial arts, but it's taking the piss.

First off, thought it was a pretty great movie, but now it's time for.... RYM Satire! The RYM'ers are on a role with the films I watch this week. Bridge of Spies: a true story, though with much creative licence, of the exchange of two spies during the Cold War. RYM Genre Police: Not a Spy movie (as a primary), despite the whole story weighing on two spies. But it is a Legal Drama despite all the courtroom stuff being over and done with in the early stages of the film. Also not a Political Drama (as a primary), despite the political nature of exchanging two spies between countries. I guess I can understand their reluctance to put Spy as a primary when the film is mostly focused on Hanks' lawyer character, but come on. This is undeniably a movie about spies. It literally has Spies in the title. Not all movies in the genre need to be James Bond.

Loved this! Yeah, never been that impressed with the music, but it's a great story. And as Mick Shrimpton from Spinal Tap said, "As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll." I knew most of the story, so there was no real feeling that anyone was in real danger. The one thing I didn't know about was Vince Neil's daughter. Anyway, I loved the fourth wall breaking, and Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton) was effortlessly cool as Mick Mars.

The B-gradest of the B-grade! Imagine forcing 70s porno actors to act without taking their clothes off, and add in a dude in a rubber suit so awful even Troma 2000 wouldn't go near it.

The story of Nintendo vs Sega. Love video game histories. There were so many missed opportunities, and occasional lacks of vision it's surprising video gaming didn't die completely. And then Sony came along and smashed 'em both...

Put your brain out of gear and enjoy! A combination of war movie and... well, fuck. If I say that'll give it away. Completely stupid, but it's really well made, high class stupid, and I loved it! Chloe Grace Moretz is brilliant. And it was also nice to hear a Kiwi accent in a movie.

Thought provoking, but a bit uneven, and the conclusion is a bit fucked. A bit less relevant now than it was a couple of years ago since a couple of the subjects here (Ben Shapiro, Dennis Pager himself, Jordan Peterson) have become a lot less relevant themselves.

Very good movie! I don't think I'd have the idiot tolerance threshold you do.

It's usually anime I end up doing RYM satire for, but oh boy we need one for this: All the President's Men, based on the non-fiction book of the same name: Featuring dramatizations of real figures involved in and exposing the Watergate scandal, which took place earlier in the same decade, concluding two years before the movie was released. RYM Genre Police (on any other movie): A movie does not become a period/historical drama because it has got old. A period drama is relative to when the movie was made. Unless it is a Biopic, which can be anytime (despite being under Period Drama). But not a period drama. Recent events are current, not period/history. This doesn't change over time. RYM Genre Police (on this movie): This is a period drama set two years before it was released. Same decade and everything, but still a period drama. Not a biopic/biographical movie, despite the depictions of real life individuals during a defining point in their careers. The mind boggles on RYM logic sometimes. Great movie though. I thought it might be a bit of a drag, but it wasn't.

Another eco-armageddon film like IO, but this time the solution is time travel, not interplanetary evacuation. It's reasonably mind-bending, and comes to a satisfactory conclusion, even if there IS a plot hole big enough to fly a star destroyer through it...

That's right. It's my first of his films. It has a sort of dark, I wouldn't say comic per se, but certainly quirky feel to it. The attitudes of the time are also eye-opening and you'll realise that there's a lot of bad stuff going on in the village which is only lightly touched on throughout the film.

One of those films I liked when I saw it, but have never watched it a second time.

As far as I remember this is a Haneke movie right? I have this one on my to watch list. Now there is a man who understands the darkness of the human soul, and how to put it on the screen. I always come away from watching his movies with nausea and a feeling like I just watched something I´m not sure I should have
